Oregon Gun Owners Plan Noncompliance Rally
Gateway ^ | May 16, 2015 | Michael Strickland

Now that Oregon’s SB 941 has been signed by the Governor, gun rights activists have banded together and are organizing a facebook event page for a rally entitled “SB 941 I Will Not Comply Demonstration“. The rally is set for May 30th, at the Capitol building in Salem, and will feature a host of speakers. SB 941 is the “universal background check” bill, meaning that if you want to trade guns with your next door neighbor whom you’ve known for 10 years, you must both submit yourselves to background checks and get permission from the state police before the exchange can take place.

While the page doesn’t specifically encourage people to openly violate this new law, it can be expected that several people in attendance will buy, sell, and trade firearms without going through the background check, similar to the Washington “I Will Not Comply” rally that took place last December in Olympia.

Good for them. The time has come to emerge from the shadows and openly defy Leviathan.

Why the hell should the police have anything to say about it? That sucks.

The state police will not stop them at a mass event. They will content to catch people one or two at a time and make examples of them.

Same sort of bill here in WA - you couldn’t even give/loan a family member a gun. It’s called an illegal transfer. So say you’re hunting with a friend and you ask him/her to hold your rifle/shotgun as you climb over a fence. Illegal transfer w/o a background check, etc.

They should make it very Monty Pythonesque. Have field drills with rapid swapping of guns from one guy to the next. Call the announcer the Minister of Silly Gun Laws.

The new governor of Oregon is a mentally disturbed sexual deviant.

So she’s saying now that she shouldn’t have control of any arms?

Guess that means she has to resign.

The tactic of picking off just a few, and making extreme examples of them, works very well in a totalitarian regime, and that may be what Oregon is fast approaching. Oh, they have kept the veneer of being a legitimate government, with the forms and apparently with the necessary personnel filling the assigned slots, but appeals are no longer possible against the excesses of the enforcement of the poorly worded and contradictory law code that has grown up through years and years of failure to apply critical thinking to the meaning and impact of this patchwork of illogical and mostly unenforceable prohibitions and criminalization of simple daily human interactions, and only teaches people to disrespect ALL authority.

Does nobody remember Prohibition? And that was once part of the Constitution. The other part of the story, is that that amendment was later rescinded.

When is Oregon going to get on the road to rescinding most of this unenforceable legislation? And when enough people simply ignore or defy the newer legislation, it has become unenforceable, except in a highly selective manner, which is quickly seen to be basically unfair and biased.

Without registration of all firearms this is meaningless. All one has to say is the transfer pre dated the new law.

The real problem is that over time a registry will build up as people buy new guns from dealers.

If you transfer a gun there is a record of you buying after the law, you will be in hot water.

I remember the olden days when towns would have a Saturday GUN AND DOG TRADING DAY.

No more thanks to the 1968 Gun Control Law.

I wouldn’t participate in that rally. I don’t flip the bird at bad laws and draw the attention to myself. I just do what I’d normally do with stupid laws. Ignore it.

Or one whose serial number shows it to have been manufactured post-ban.

Yeah, you’re right. “They” already know who the trouble makers/threats to the nation are. Will there be an increase in boating accidents in the near future?

I doubt that the law will be enforced - at first.

The trick is to lay low until the furor dies down, then, as others posted, start picking “offenders” off one at a time, with accompanying fanfare.

Why would there be? Oh yeah...because We The Sheeple have no b*!!s anymore. I'm sick of ducking and hiding from the JBTs. We have 'em, come get 'em.

On a related note, Mark Levin had me fired up last night. I love the guy...the only (major) talk host who's calling on the people to get off their a**es and DO SOMETHING!
