The war in Iraq -- the issue that defined George W. Bush's presidency and haunted candidates from both parties on the 2008 campaign trail -- is back.
And this time it's creating headaches for Jeb Bush.
In his clearest declaration yet on his feelings about his brother's invasion of Iraq, the former Florida governor said Thursday that "knowing what we know now, ...I would not have engaged."
"I would not have gone into Iraq," he said.
The comments marked the fifth time this week that Bush sought to explain his position on Iraq

The question that nobody wants to ask...can you even imagine the last 6 years if Obama had been forced to deal with Saddam Hussein? I suspect that we would have surrendered by now.
Listening to him is like listening to Governor Rick Perry. There are three reasons not to trust Jeb:
1. Iraq.
2. Amnesty.
3. I forgot the third reason.
The question nobody wants to ask:
If Saddam was still in power, would Iraq today be Iran’s closest ally, as if became after we ousted Saddam?
“Dear George Bush: You killed Saddam, our biggest enemy in world, and you held elections in Iraq that put our Shiite allies in power.
Thank you, George Bush! — Your friends, Iran”
The only answer that the liberal media want to hear on this from Jeb is him calling his brother “Bushitler!”
Clinton dealt with him by sending in bombing runs to take out anti-aircraft stations and stuff like that whenever they violated the no-fly zone rules. It became pretty routine.
Of course Clinton also paved the way for a future "regime-change", but he of course left that up to the next guy (GWB).
and how many Israeils would Saddam have killed in the past decade. Iraq was a regional menace and refused to comply with his agreement at the end of the gulf war. Our position was regime change before Bush took office.
I am glad he’s gone...and his sons are dead.
Dear CNN,
You do realize that by going after Bush you are doing the Conservatives job for them.
We appreciate all your hard work.
Signed,
An American Conservative
PS. We also “LOVE” Rubio and Paul.
I am glad he’s gone.
Iran agrees with you! they’re also glad !
YEP, ole Jeb just zotted hisself.
and this is the candidate the establishment wants??
seriously??
Both iranians and saudis were happy to see saddam gone. Both viewed him as a foe & a major obstacle to their power struggle in iraq.
But we didn’t have to invade iraq to oust him. A ‘coup d’etat’ (saddam & his brats) would’ve done the job & not uncommon in that part of the world.
As for the idealism part of democracy & nation building, it’s impossible to do so & sustain it with one country in that region. At best we had to apply that idealism across multiple countries & remain politically and militarily active there for a few decades to embed. Particularly in iraq because its borders were artificially created with shias, sunnis, and ethnically kurds, arabs & even iranians in the shia parts.
I remember after saddam was captured and during his trial he said something like ‘there will be terror everywhere in iraq’. No one believed him back then.
Flip Flop! Flip Flop! Little Jeb has no ideal what he is doing or were he is. Reminds me of John McCain without the stroke. I think that’s called just plain stupid.
Republican candidates just need to stop answering hypotheticals. There is never a correct answer and anything said will be spun against them by a media that hates them anyway.
Jeb foolishly think the media that adores him is trying to help him. The adore him because they know he will lose.
OK let’s let CNN get the rest of our candidates outta there. I’m not a Bush supporter but when you are shooting fish in a barrel why stop?
Let's keep 'im around 'til he flip flops on illegal immigrants, global warming and common core, all to prove he isn't pandering to George Stephanopoulos.
Heck, lets keep him forever. He'll make such a fine candidate.
The only thing his brother ever flipped on was the conservative part of compassionate conservative. Jeb wants to prove he's more worthless than W. It should only take four or five hundred million for him to buy the White House.
Well, I guess Iran should be running our foreign policy then. You should be very happy under Barrack Obama.
