Jeb Bushs decision to forego this summers Iowa Straw Poll has roiled many conservatives in the state, but that snub might only be the beginning: According to three sources with knowledge of Bushs campaign strategy, the likely Republican presidential candidate does not plan to seriously contest the first-in-the-nation caucuses and may ultimately skip the state altogether. Tim Miller, a spokesman for Bush, strongly denied that the candidate planned to write off Iowa, and suggested those who say otherwise are merely speculating. There is nobody with any shred of authority or proximity to Gov. Bush suggesting that, should he decide to run for president, he skip or ignore Iowa, he said.

He’s positioning himself for the few-state electoral swing win. He and his team knows conservatives are out to get him and Iowa and likely NH is where they could lay some serious cuts to him.
He plans to stay out and say his loss was planned, looking at the larger picture. It will divert talk of distaste for him. Money, money and more money he will throw at those few large electoral vote states he can bludgeon with ads on all those hapless Republicans who keep on voting for GOPe no matter what. It may work again - for the third time.
Is he doing a Rudy and putting everything into Florida?
Yeah, like that worked so well for Rudy Giuliani.
That’s what I’m thinking - the Rudy strategy. Worked well, didn’t it?
If so, it looks like Rubio could actually do some public good by siphonong off FL support Jeb might otherwise get. Walker and Cruz should benefit.
Why not just skip that nasty public voting process altogether? The RNC powers-that-be who have already rigged the primary process can circumvent the messy convention balloting and just anoint him as the nominee. I mean, it will make the press happy until after the Democrat convention and that’s all that matters isn’t it?
Iowa and New Hampshire are both swing states in the general election and could be crucial, especially to a Republican who has to carve out a tighter electoral vote strategy generally more than a Democrat. If Jebbie can’t win these two states in a Republican caucus and primary how much more does he think he can win them in the general election? His campaign is already in deep trouble, and he knows it. He’ll go into Nevada 0 for 3 because he has no shot in South Carolina either and the smart money, i.e. the establishment, will begin to look for another candidate. Keep your eye on Rubio. That’s the GOPe’s new boy when Jeb falters.
He should skip New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida as well. Maybe every state to the right of New York.
IA (6) and NH (4) comprise 10 EVs Look at FL 29 and the other ones that others that are nearly 10 votes. I don't call them 'swing' unless you want to talk about early pandering. Bush has decided he doesn't need them and that he likely won't get them anyway - at least on the road to a GOPe nomination..
If he follows the heretofore successful template he will not run seriously in any of the early primaries but his money will be used generously to fund smear campaigns against whatever conservative is leading in each of the earlies. Then when he has has done his worst against them and most of them have trashed each other he will be the last man standing for the later primaries and will win the nomination. The only chance that conservative candidates actually have against the tactic is to abjure attacking the other candidates, maintain sense of humor, stay on point, and do not apologize for or explain anything at all, even legitimate flubs. In other words, use the Reagan template to combat the gope template. Walker and Cruz appear to be the only ones who could do this. I hope they can keep it up.
It is really kind of the gope strategy and it has worked for the gopes for several cycles now. They don't really participate in the early primaries even if they are officially "in." They let the conservatives chew each other up and then enter full bore in the later ones when there are no credible conservatives left.
Even if he does this, I will NOT vote for him in a general election, and I will do everything in my power to stop this cycle of settling for the second least evil alternative. I simply will not do this any more. Not for one damn second.
How about Jebbie skip the whole election?
I don’t think that’s how 08 or 12 played out at all.....both were over by Florida, period.
I expect Bush to be the Nominee and to lose the election to whoever ends up as the Democrat nominee. I really don’t think Bush actually wants to be president. He does want the honor of the Nomination, though. If he wanted to win the election he would not be cutting off the conservatives with so much determination. He would have a better chance at the election if he had switched parties a year or so after he ceased being governor of Florida.
Probably. Regardless, I will do everything in my power to trash him and keep him from the nomination.
He should just skip 2016 and save himself the humiliation.
lol
He Gonna try and Rudy!
lol
well... we all know how that turned out, so I like his plan!
:)
Go Cruz!
Better yet, skip ‘16.
