Polls had the race neck and neck until the last moment
An independent inquiry is to be carried out into the accuracy of election polls after underestimates of the Conservatives' lead over Labour.
Predictions of a neck-and-neck race, a near-balanced parliament, and a potential constitutional crisis following the General Election put forward by all major pollsters during the campaign were proved drastically wrong.
In the end, David Cameron's party secured an overall majority, something even the exit poll of 22,000 voters at 141 polling stations did not detect.
The British Polling Council (BPC), which acts as the association for opinion pollsters, will look into the causes of the "apparent bias" and make recommendations for future polls.

Today's Media polling is largely designed to DRIVE the opinion of low-info voters to leftists, not to measure it.
the results were not a surprise to the citizens, only the experts. :)
The rats-UK edition probably had horrid internal polling and used that to push the media machine even harder.
That’s the way it looks to me.
“push-polls” ... we know all about that.
Ahh, but the point of the inquiry is to determine why the poll failed to manipulate the public.
I guess that former Lib-Dem peer is now going to eat a hat. I would recommend a nice top hat.
Is that a statement about the bad polling, or a statement about who he wanted to win?
If I remember right there was a large number of undecideds in the polling. The prospect of a Labour-SNP coalition scared the crap out of them and they went Tory.
It’s the same thing they do here. Project what they want and try to discourage us. Simply vote and ignore them.
Like in Israel - another bunch of lefty pollsters whose beebers got stunned by a come-from behind right wing party victory.
They never saw the Tory majority coming. The raw vote totals late into the morning laughed in their face!
Exactly right. It has now failed big time in the US Mid Terms, The Israeli elections and the UK.
It is more social engineering than a scientific process. Pollsters have developed a "special sauce process" that they apply to the raw results to skew the numbers to meet their expectations.
This only makes me skeptical of all polls now.
This is why conservatives lie to pollsters:
Rhys Morgan @rhysmorgan. Genuinely one of the most hideous electoral results Ive seen. F**k Tory scum. Tory voters, you have blood on your hands.
I would certainly hope that ANYONE asking me who I was going to vote for AND more exactly, who I did vote for are not going to use my answer for anything ‘official’.

Oh what to do when your job involves indiscriminately averaging polls (& adding phony fairy dust) to make predictions which turn out wrong?
Today's Media polling is largely designed to DRIVE the opinion of low-info voters to leftists, not to measure it.What you wrote is undoubtedly correct.
The other cause of inaccurate polling arises from the incessant haranguing from leftist media attempting to convince people there is a politically correct way to think and act. I believe many voters respond to a pollster with answers in line with a conventional meme pushed by leftist media, especially if the poll is not anonymous, but vote differently in the privacy of the voting booth.
The exact same thing is going to occur in the USA elections of 2016!!! Remember those polls covering the 2014 senate races, how close they were....truth be known, they were not close or correct at all!!!
to make predictions which turn out wrong?

Guess there is a life after life in the Lib World as an Economist, Global Warming Expert (or whatever it is being called this week) or pResidential advisor.
Truth matters not, just an inconvenience and/or stumbling block when the goal is to dismantle and destroy etc...
Axelrod flew the coop when it became clear to all that he had no political magic beans. His ‘expertise’ was predicated solely on marketing a black candidate.
Who only won because his opposition was so lame.
