Those of us who have been paying attention since 1996 know EXACTLY why the UK Media's pre-election polling was so far off.

Today's Media polling is largely designed to DRIVE the opinion of low-info voters to leftists, not to measure it.

The rats-UK edition probably had horrid internal polling and used that to push the media machine even harder.

“push-polls” ... we know all about that.

Ahh, but the point of the inquiry is to determine why the poll failed to manipulate the public.

I guess that former Lib-Dem peer is now going to eat a hat. I would recommend a nice top hat.

Meanwhile, ICM director Martin Boon appeared to sum up the mood among Britain's pollsters, tweeting "oh s**t" after the publication of the exit poll showing the Tories would be by far the largest party.

Is that a statement about the bad polling, or a statement about who he wanted to win?

If I remember right there was a large number of undecideds in the polling. The prospect of a Labour-SNP coalition scared the crap out of them and they went Tory.

It’s the same thing they do here. Project what they want and try to discourage us. Simply vote and ignore them.

Like in Israel - another bunch of lefty pollsters whose beebers got stunned by a come-from behind right wing party victory.

They never saw the Tory majority coming. The raw vote totals late into the morning laughed in their face!

Exactly right. It has now failed big time in the US Mid Terms, The Israeli elections and the UK.

It is more social engineering than a scientific process. Pollsters have developed a "special sauce process" that they apply to the raw results to skew the numbers to meet their expectations.

This only makes me skeptical of all polls now.

From The Auld Alliance @Popehat (via Iowahawk):

This is why conservatives lie to pollsters:

Rhys Morgan @rhysmorgan. Genuinely one of the most hideous electoral results I’ve seen. F**k Tory scum. Tory voters, you have blood on your hands.

I would certainly hope that ANYONE asking me who I was going to vote for AND more exactly, who I did vote for are not going to use my answer for anything ‘official’.

What you wrote is undoubtedly correct.

The other cause of inaccurate polling arises from the incessant haranguing from leftist media attempting to convince people there is a politically correct way to think and act. I believe many voters respond to a pollster with answers in line with a conventional meme pushed by leftist media, especially if the poll is not anonymous, but vote differently in the privacy of the voting booth.

From the article: Survation said it conducted a telephone poll on Wednesday evening which showed the Tories on 37% and Labour on 31% but "chickened out" of publishing it as it appeared so out of line with other surveys.

Its chief executive Damian Lyons said he would "always regret" the decision but would not be carrying out an internal review of his methodology..

Hah! Turns out it wasn't the methodology after all. If there was bias, it wasn't mathematical. it was the pollster leadership.

Remember how Jimmy Carter had such a big lead in 1980 polls.

When it comes to poll paper I like Northern better than Charmin.
