It is a stupid bill. The Senate already must ratify any treaty. Why pass a bill that gives them the authority they already have?

They need to look like they are doing something besides taking the lobbyist money.

Define “Treaty”.
It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’, is.

I applaud Senator Tom Cotton for:

1) Authoring the letter to Iran

2) Disrupting the leadership’s plans last week to allow the Rats to pick and choose which amendments they would allow votes on

3) Being the lone NO vote today on a farcical bill that allows 1/3rd of Congress to uphold any bad deal rather than the 2/3rds required to ratify under the Constitution.

ALL the politicians are well informed on ‘United States v. Curtiss-Wright Export Corp.’ :
“ ...the very delicate, plenary and exclusive power of the President as the sole organ of the federal government in the field of international relations–a power which does not require as a basis for its exercise an act of Congress, but which, of course, like every other governmental power, must be exercised in subordination to the applicable provisions of the Constitution.”

This bill is totally meaningless, unenforceable, and all the media should be ashamed for letting these hucksters pretend it’s ‘tough’ on either Iran or Obama.

Why pass a bill that gives them the authority they already have?

Because they felt they had too much authority, and would prefer to have less than the actual amount granted to them of Constitutional Authority.

Cruz voted FOR this dog-turd?

Shame on him.

You nailed it. The Senate has flipped the Constitution on its head and now must vote to disapprove rather than approve. This bill actually gives Obama more power as a disapproval will never get out of the Senate. I would like to see what Cruz has to say about his vote, also.

Senator Cotton voted against, Senator Boxer missed the vote.

Which means Senator Cruz was a 'yes'. I didn't expect that.

In other words, it gives the RINOs cover.

Senator Cruz offered an Amendment to prevent the Senate from neutering itself, turning the Constitution upside down and abandoning the Senate's authority to approve a deal requiring 2/3 majority, but it was not accepted.

On the final vote, I presume that Sen. Cruz and Lee believed that some oversight over Obama's treachery was preferable to none at all.

In submitting his Amendment, Cruz gave a great speech on the Senate floor laying out the case against Iran and Obama's bad deal (link below).

Yep, it’s time to hear from Cruz. I’d like an explanation also. Good for Senator Cotton.

The very concept of a ‘review’ is preposterous. What is a review? Just more useless political commentary and posturing with no meaningful action of any kind.

We don’t need no stinking review; we need a rejection and that is already a power vested in the constitution, a document probably not read nor understood by most politicians.
