Agreed. And I know I will get KILLED for this, but I worked with lots of gay guys in graphics. Some were ok. Many had issues. But none who went through any kind of attempt to become “straight” turned out the better for it.
could someone turn me “gay”. Not in a million years.
They have the choice to act on a terrible compulsion and face their maker, or abstain. I don't envy them.

To me, “Conversion therapy” is category error but I’m not against people trying the direct approach. The underlying mental illness/issues that lead to Teh GayZ is the problem. Conversion therapy only treats the symptom.
If parents were smart, they would address that. Bring their kid to a reputable therapist dealing with the underlying issues and they get the conversion therapy automatically. It also skirts the GOP love of pro-gay legislating.

But none who went through any kind of attempt to become straight turned out the better for it.How many do you know for a fact actually tried such therapy. There are many personal accounts of successful treatment, and many more that weren't fully successful but with no ill effects.
