Climate Hypocrites and the Media That Love Them

Journalists help promote Hollywood celebrities while condemning average Americans for causing climate change. The same media go out of their way to ignore or excuse the hypocrisy of celebrity “environmentalists” who fly their private jets around the world, rent mega-yachts and live in massive mansions.

Avatar Director James Cameron warned of a future “world that’s in shambles” because of climate change, and said he believes “in ecoterrorism” yet, he owns an impressive private collection of motorcycles, cars, dirt bikes, a yacht, a helicopter, a Humvee fire truck and a $32-million submarine. ABC and CBS even praised Cameron for his submarine purchase, with CBS’s Gayle King saying she loved his “passion and curiosity.”

The problem isn’t their hypocrisy. The problem is that they are wrong: (1) No proof of warming at all; (2) even if there has been warming, no proof that it was significant; (3) even if it was significant, no proof that it is due to human activity; (4) even if it is due to human activity, no proof that the warming will continue into the future at expected levels of human activity; (5) no reason to assume that the present temperature of the Earth is optimal; and (6) no consideration of whether the economic dislocation from the cure would be worse than the disease.

The problem is not that they are hypocrites, which they are, or that they are wrong, which they are as well. It is because none of this decades long issue has ever been about the climate, the environment, fossil fuels or the saving the planet.

The climate change issue is just a ruse to keep man-made climate change deniers' eyes off the real goal. It's all one big head fake. A red herring grown large. Pulling the wool over skeptics' eyes.

You can argue with the Left about global warming, climate change or whatever they are calling it this week, but you will never win because their standard mantra is the "debate is over". This is "settled science". You'll lose every time. It's structured so you're wrong and they're right.

The real objective of the climate change crowd is ultimately social revolution. To replace free enterprise capitalism with socialism/communism. It's that simple. No cooling, no warming, no pollution, no recycling. None of that. They blame American capitalism for all of the problems of the world and a hinderance to achieving their goal of a one-world government of the socialist elite versus everyone else. The elitist progressive Left against the peons. Control is everything. Control and power is their nirvana.

Actually, I think there are several groups which have grabbed ahold of this global warming cause for their own reasons:

1) As your post suggests, socialists and communists are into this cause big time because it has more support than their ideology does, and it achieves the same thing.

2) Some people live in constant fear of everything. They especially fear the big cataclysmic stuff for some reason. So they get behind every cause that says, “Stop what you’re doing.” As if, were we to actually stop doing anything, then a perfect state of non-change would result. It’s a lack of recognition that everything in the universe is in constant change.

3) There are the true crusaders. They want to save the world. Not just one or two species, but the whole blasted world. Big goal. Lofty. Also, arrogant, absurd, without perspective.

4) Haters of mankind. These people would gladly kill everyone else, and then kill themselves. Man is a blight on the world, and everything would be perfect if we could just get rid of this virus called homo sapien.

5) Opportunists. These are people who have cynically realized that they can personally capitalize on this global warming cause. Scientists who have now become “climatologists” (when did that become a profession?). They set up fiefdoms in universities. They get published. They get interviewed. They get sent to conferences in paradises around the world. They get many underlings, funded by government grants. No one gets these if they say there is no man-made global warming. You only get these if you say there is man-made global warming. Add to this lot the journalists and politicians. And the corporations who jump on the bandwagon to talk about how environmentally conscious they are.

6) The ignorant followers. They want to feel good about themselves. They don’t really want to make a lot of serious sacrifices, but they might put solar cells on their roof, or stop taking showers, ride a bicycle to work. It makes them feel good about themselves. This is the biggest group, I think. But it’s also the least motivated group. They talk a lot, and make your life miserable at work with stupid things like “sustainability.” They are playing into the hands of the socialists and communists and opportunists, but they will never understand what this whole thing is really all about because they are ignorant and gullible, uncaring and self-absorbed. They want to feel good about themselves by doing little good things because they know that if they stop and look at themselves truthfully, they will be disgusted at what they see. Self-centered do-nothings.

All of this sounds reasonable. But the fact of the matter is, none of this is about the climate. It is about these varying groups' political, economic and social agendas.

The issue (global warming) with the Left is never the issue. It is always about the revolution or, as you suggest, some other agenda. The Left can never win on superior arguments. Deceit is always at the top of their methods. That's why so many liberals are liars.
