Already buffeted by widespread violence, crippling shortages, and skyrocketing inflation, Venezuelans will be confronted with a new burden in the coming weeks: nationwide electricity rationing.
The government of President Nicolas Maduro said last week that a plan to ration and otherwise adjust energy usage would go into effect to address increasing demand, which has been spurred on in part by a recent rise in temperatures in the Caribbean country.
The measures of the rationing plan include reducing workday length for some public officials to six hours, requesting that private firms increase their electrical efficiency, and the inspecting of factories and malls to ensure that they comply with reduced-consumption goals.
The administration also called on citizens to use power more responsibly, as residential use makes up 40% of demand in Venezuela.

Can’t they just order generators from eBay?
What about solar? Get solar panels on the internet, install them, problem solved right?

communism never works. It always leads to poverty and misery for the normal people, and privileges and riches for the party elite.

No food no paper no meds,,,,,,nada. We just back from Colombia and lots of Cuban and Venezuelan refugees. Childhood friend of my wife came back from Venezuela after several yrs...she was in shock at the abundance of everything. When she returned she was restricted on what she can bring back to the Democrats paradise.
Colombia’s economy and standard of living is now better than a lot of europe!

The administration also called on citizens to use power more responsibly I guess that's the charitable way to put it if you are shilling for a Communist dictatorship. Another way would be that the government is demanding that residents turn off their power even if they need it for basic cooking and lighting or else the government's thugs will rough up residents who don't and thus, make the government look bad.

Last month, Pres. Maduro raised the ‘living wage’ THIRTY percent! This while in the middle of extreme inflation.
Doesn’t Maduro know that one problem begets the other?

But ... but ..... but this meathead on the right of this photo said ..... ahh ....... These Hollywood idiots. They live in a delusional world. This guy received great "white privilege." His family was the connection to his career and now he knows it all. He's not well educated so he has to overcompensate to make him look so. This clown is full of gas.

Cant they just order generators from eBay? What about solar? Get solar panels on the internet, install them, problem solved right? All of that requires US dollars. Even if you could pay for it with dollars, and managed to get the stuff through customs without paying absurd tariffs, there's still the problem of generators and solar panels making you a prime target for burglars and robbers.

Having lived in Venezuela I can say that this is nothing new.
Although in the 1990's it was much better.
