Always have liked McQueen. My favourites include “The Great Escape”, the above mentioned movie, “The Cincinnati Kid”, and even his last one “Hunter”. Don’t want to sound morbid, but he also ,of course, passed away from mesothelioma that took my grandfather a few years later in 1984 (Grandpa worked in an oil refinery back in the ‘20s and ‘30s as well as built houses in the ‘40s and ‘50s; that’s how our family thinks he came into contact with asbestos).

It would be hard to pick a favorite McQueen movie but “The Thomas Crown Affair,” ranks near the top of my picks.

Supposedly they vector McQueens exposure to his dad who worked in a ship yard and had boiler insulation in his work clothes he brought home and shed in the laundry room every day.

They didn't trash a real 917, of course. It was a Lola that was mocked-up to resemble a Porsche in that scene, IIRC.
I read somewhere that Jerry Seinfeld owns the McQueen 917. Given that 917s sell in the $20 Million range, I wonder how much the McQueen provenance added to the price?

...excellent slow motion destruction of a porshe 917 in that movie..It was actually a Lola T-70 with a Porsche body tacked on. Wasting a 917 would have been sacrilege.

All I know is that he was able to completely revitalize the Ford Mustang with
this commercial.

Agreed. And damn, I forgot to mention “Bullitt” as among my favourites as well, lol. Many to choose from, no doubt.
