Yeah, like the hip-hop rioting crowd will stop and listen to the strains of Beethoven and Mozart flowing through the air.
What are the chances that a classical music enthusiast would riot and loot? Compare that to the cRap crowd.
This is the summation of what they are thinking, but they'll get a pass on being racist.
In Kansas City, the Kaufman Center for Performing Arts has two halls, the Muriel Kaufman Theater and Helzberg Hall. Helzberg is the venue of the Symphony and the other is ballet, opera, vocal events, jazz, etc. When two events are on the same day, the differences in audience are very interesting. Blacks almost never attend a Symphony event, but they do support many of the other, usually dressed to the nines and really styling. They have the money and they want to see and be seen, just like other people. But, classic music doesn’t bring in the black audience. Even the free outdoor concert on Memorial Day dedicated to the Veterans and the fallen at Union Station near to many black neighborhoods is a very white audience. They even try giving away tickets to schools and that doesn’t work either.
10:00 PM curfew!
Enough with the incessant cello playing!
They could have held a folk music event with the same result.
Dumb white liberals thinking they can bestow their “cultural superiority” on the inner city and make them into hipsters and yuppies.
Tomorrow they will put up big speakers and blast NPR into the ghetto.
GLBTs, persons of color and Baltimore residents are all 85%-90% reliable Democrat voters, so there is that unity.
Saw it on FOX and laughed. Waiting for some blacks to get offended at the obvious display of racism. The nerve of whitey to think blacks don’t go to the symphony! Or that “white” music is better than the music listened to by our young, misunderstood, urban yutes? That’s RACIST!!! :-)
They jump on cop cars. The cops stand down.
They burn down millions in property. We use very strong language.
They bring a knife we bring a cello.
Yep, got it.

A friend attended the dedication of the Lincoln Library in Springfield, IL a few years back. He said the crowd was almost entirely white.
Then again who knows... maybe they wanted to fiddle while Rome/Baltimore burned...
While the people standing and listening around were prominently white, there were a few black folks in the crowd too. Not much of a crowd in terms of number of people anyway, but then not surprising since I dont think it was publicized and was in the middle of the afternoon. I assume many of those there were perhaps family of the musicians or employees of the BSO or the Myerhoff.
