‘We will not obey’: Christian leaders threaten civil disobedience

“We will not obey.”

That’s the blunt warning a group of prominent religious leaders is sending to the Supreme Court of the United States as they consider same-sex marriage.

“We respectfully warn the Supreme Court not to cross that line,” read a document titled, Pledge in Solidarity to Defend Marriage. “We stand united together in defense of marriage. Make no mistake about our resolve.”

“While there are many things we can endure, redefining marriage is so fundamental to the natural order and the common good that this is the line we must draw and one we cannot and will not cross,” the pledge states.

The signees are a who’s who of religious leaders including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, National Religious Broadcasters president Jerry Johnson, Pastor John Hagee, and Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse.

Good for them. The Supreme Court is not Mount Sinai.

Any Court that forces gay marriage on the American people has declared war on Christian civilization. And if it’s war they want it’s war they will get.

And, God help them when they have to face Him on Judgment Day. If they think they can shake their fist in God’s face, they are sadly mistaken. He will have the final say so - He is the final judge. Freedom of religion is a guaranteed right in the Constitution - same-sex marriage isn’t mentioned - regardless of how the deviants want to interject their own wording into it. God bless these brave Christian leaders = they will go to jail before they will disobey God. Our nation is at a crossroads, and we need to be in deep prayer for it. Seven people should not be allowed to make a ruling that affects all Americans,.

“Enough” already happened with Roe v Wade. Gay marriage pales in comparison to the so called “constitutional right” to murder the unborn.

Adding sexual discrimination bans to laws, and then extending it to gay marriage, cannot in any even remotest fashion be legitimately allowed to replaced freedom of religion and conscience under the 1st Amendment. Human history itself denies even the attempt.

The MOST that would be remotely legitimate legal theory would be to allow equal status, i.e. gays to marry under the law, AND religious people of conscience not to serve it in any way in their businesses other than what they make available to the general public. But forcing - at gunpoint, no less - personal creative effort specifically supporting the cultural celebration of gay marriage? No way. That MUST be voluntary.

The subject matter is NOT “equality.” It’s the religious redefinition of marriage itself for the entire human race and the denial of the most fundamental human right of freedom of conscience and religion. In forcing it, the law literally makes ancestral religions illegal and millions of people instant criminals overnight, in favor of not gays, but an all-powerful corporate business model that trumps human rights themselves.

That’s not law - it’s atrocity.

That’s because there is ( a ) singular ) higher ruling authority than them.

I read the document, and it all seems well and good, but what exactly is one pledging to do when one signs it? Not get gay married? Take up arms? It’s not clear.

Refuse to recognize any SCOTUS ruling that redefines marriage as anything but the union of one man and one woman, and commit civil disobedience in defiance of such an unjust ruling, if need be.

There is a video at the “MEDIA” link that is worth viewing.

Good for them. I have been wondering when leader was going to appear - not surprised Franklin Graham is one of them.

A few lawyers in blackrobes presume to overturn the “Laws of Nature and Nature's God.” It cannot work any better than Russian communists were able to create the “New Man.”

Society and what remains of our republic cannot withstand further assaults.

Article V. Now.

It’s not done just yet.

Keep praying and thanking GOD that He will turn their decision to the righteous benefit of His kingdom.

“No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD.

It is more that freedom of religion. It is also freedom of speech and assembly.

"It’s not done just yet."

Although human logic is infallible at times, the reason why the Court took up this appeal should clue us in which way the reprobates' will "rule".

I hold out hope for sanity and righteous liberty to prevail, but in today's world of legal elasticity and defiance of intentions, hope is very slim indeed.

That’s why we need to fatten up that slim hope with a steady diet of relentless prayer. ;-)
