The Supreme Court on Tuesday will hear 2.5 hours of oral arguments that may very well determine the fate of marriage equality in the United States....
a victory for equal marriage would be a narrow win in the broader landscape.
So what does the movement for LGBTQ justice look like if the marriage question is finally settled? Remarkably similar, since many of the kinds of discrimination LGBTQ people currently face will remain unaffected by the change. This is particularly true for the decisions we tend to associate with getting married, like where to live, where to work and how to support a family.
A 2013 report from the Department of Housing and Urban Development documented widespread discrimination against gay and lesbian couples in the rental market...
this kind of discrimination is widespread, but its also only one facet of the problem.
....Employment discrimination is equally widespread and poorly addressed by existing law. In 29 states, your boss can fire you for putting your wedding photo on your desk, and there is nothing you can do about it....
...after the Supreme Courts Hobby Lobby ruling, we all woke up in a changed and intensified landscape of religious exemptions being used as an excuse to discriminate. National Gay and Lesbian Task Force executive director Rea Carey wrote...
...the Center for American Progress documented a financial penalty for being trans, not just because of employment discrimination but because of an overall lack of legal protections...
...if the justices land on the right side of history when it comes to equal marriage, which is why the historic case important as it may be is really just the beginning.
This is what Katie thinks is "just the beginning"....
In essence, they want special protections based on their sexual behavior.
I am over 50 and I do not know one transgendered person. I have never known one.
Liberals have us in an uproar over this garbage. It really is about being divisive. They’re the hate group.
God’s justice will demand answers over the issues of aborting babies and same-sex marriage.
Katie hasn’t watched much HGTV.
They are part of a coalition that is taking control and starting to govern of course they will elevate their wants and desires over the white American who formed and once governed the United States from 1789 up to and including 2008.
I find it hard to believe that homosexuals face wide discrimination in the housing market.
I don’t care what liberals do with their sex organs or where they stick them. It’s beyond boring...
catering to the pervs will be the beginning of the end
The goal has never been acceptance, but forced approval of any and all behaviors they can come up with.
All the fairy boys, homosexuals, and cross dressers is the reason why my wife and I stopped watching HGTV.
It seemed nearly half of the people there finding a house or doing it over is one of the sexually confused lot.
We need to create a ‘marriage’ that’s only for one man and one woman... then ignore the spoiled brats acting out for attention. I don’t care what they do... really.
Perhaps there must be an eye for an eye and an individual for an institution
If I walk into a store looking to buy a dress or undergarments or something similar, I can tell you I will walk right back out if I am “helped” by a trans.
Freedom is dead for all but the deviant.
>>...the Center for American Progress documented a financial penalty for being trans, not just because of employment discrimination but because of an overall lack of legal protections... <<
Probably because most trans-people are suffering from serious mental illness and gender confusion is one of the ways it manifests itself.
Um, I just rented a new place in Texas. It’s a 3 bedroom place — very nice. And the landlord neither asked nor knows if I have a significant other, let alone his/her gender and if he/she would be living with me.
This article is junk.
PS Nope, no significant other right now. Any intelligent fun pretty female Freepers in Texas want to apply? /LOL
This Supreme Court hearing is a sham and any ruling in favor of mandatory acceptance of sodomy is arguably void on its face.
First: No federal court has jurisdiction to judge marriage as marriage is neither a right nor a privilege. For proof of this fact try to marry your adult sibling. As such its not covered under the 14ths jurisdiction, nor is it a civil rights claim.
Second: Marriage is an establishment of religion. The First Amendment bars the government from changing it.
Third: Kagan and Ginsberg by publicly advocating for forced public acceptance of sodomy have demonstrated a bias as well as conflict of interest requiring them to recuse themselves from the case. They have not done so.
The absence of the forgoing arguments in front of the court and the refusal to recuse themselves by the two who have shown the most conflict of interest in the case are proof the hearing today is a sham.
Sick that 9 out-of-touch government goons can decide for what 50 million votes against.
All good points and Ginsberg performing a homosexual sham marriage means she should have recused herself , but alas the arrogance of these liberal activist judges have no bounds.
VERY GOOD POST
It’s not really that, it’s forcing any and all abhorrent behavior until Christians resist on principle.
The goal is to use the State to punish Christians for their beliefs,
so the left pushes everything until there is resistance
then punishes that resistance.
If it wasn’t this issue, it’d be pedophilia or bestiality or human sacrifice or cannibalism.
