He is correct.
At that point, I suspect an awful lot of Republicans began to wonder if the U.S. was on the wrong side in the first Persian Gulf War all the way back in 1990.
Personally, I don't think it's a coincidence that the major beneficiaries of U.S. military campaigns overseas always seem to be major donors to the Clinton Foundation and real estate investment partners with the Bush family in Texas.
But hindsight is 20/20.
Rand Paul will become a national prophet when Ebola wipes out our military because of the troop ships returning from Africa.
He also criticized President Obamas decision to send some 3,000 military members to West Africa. You also have to be concerned about 3,000 soldiers getting back on a ship. Where is disease most transmittable? When youre in a very close confines on a ship, we all know about cruises and how they get these diarrhea viruses that are transmitted very easily, he said. Can you imagine if a whole ship full of our soldiers catch Ebola?
Re-litigating the Iraq war is for obsessives who want to claim some sort of retroactive Pyrrhic academic “I told you so” victory. This is 2016 not 2003.
Yes, we should have irradiated Baghdad, the Tollibon, and the Soddies.
Nope.
The mistake was in electing the feckless Bill Clinton.
Maybe he was negligent — or maybe he was bribed — but Clinton did not enforce the terms of the ceasefire which ended the first Gulf War.
Eight years late, Saddam was once again a threat to the region — and YES a supporter of terrorism.
I’m with you
He’s an idiot and I’m being kind.
Bravo Sierra. Obama pulled the troops out way too soon. Whiskey Fox Trot, we still have troops and military bases in Germany, Japan and the Korean Peninsula. Idiots like Rand Paul, Obama and people who agree with him make me sick. He, Obama and others did not learn from history, and therefore, will repeat the events over and over again. Under Bush we had a chance to change direction. Yes, it would take decades but no, jerks like Obama, Rand and those who agree with them had to destroy the only chance the Mid East had.
Unfortunately Rand and others are / were right.
I specifically recall Bush senior deliberately leaving Saddam in power because foreign policy experts feared deposit him would leave a “Power Vaccum”.
Nature abhors a vaccum, and Isis has gladly filled it.
*I did and kinda do still support our reason for going into Iraq based on WND cat n mouse game and Saddam sending convoys of it into Syria.
Saddam killed 600,000 during his reign of tyranny.
However Iraq has once more proven caution that we should avoid foreign entanglements, and middle east scorpion nests.
I agree with you and Paul. I said it then and I still believe it. He was a dictator that kept everything under control. 911 would not have happened had he still been in power. JMO
Yes he is. Christianity in Iraq was devastated as a direct consequence of the Bush war. ISIS is mopping up the pieces now. Bush and his family are demonic employees of the Saudis.
Easy to look back and make assumptions but one should take in the other factors - not enough actual “shock and awe” to really destroy those that needed to be destroyed, then an Obama comes along and pretty much ensures that the terrorists take what they wanted in the first place. Add hos misdealing with Afghanistan and Iran to the mix and one can not disentangle the mess.
Dick Cheney would disagree with you
