"...Meadowbrook did not escape the political convulsions touched off during Mr. Walkers first term as governor. In a speech to the congregation during its annual meeting in 2013, Mr. Mackett pleaded for an end to the turmoil caused by slander and name calling among members divided by politics.
He declined to elaborate in an interview. But Lee Heyward, who succeeded Mr. Mackett as head pastor, said,John and Meadowbrook were going through a really tumultuous time during that whole season of Act 10, referring to the law Mr. Walker signed in 2011 that stripped Wisconsins public employees of most bargaining rights.
The church has many members who are teachers, Mr. Heyward said, and they vociferously opposed the governor. There were people in the church that wanted John to come out and speak against Governor Walker and his policies, Mr. Heyward said. There were also supporters of the governor who wanted to hear their pastor defend him. Mr. Mackett refused to introduce politics into his sermons. Some people on both sides left Meadowbrook.
Mr. Walker said that when tens of thousands of protesters filled the State Capitol during the debate over Act 10, my faith helped me stay calm and focus on the issue instead of matching anger with anger.
On Friday, as he began a two-day visit to Iowa, Mr. Walker indulged in the venerable political tradition of playing up his ties to the state with the nations first nominating contest. The Times is sure loving Scott Walker today
Is there a person. One person in this distracted history-ignorant country, besides Scott walker and his mouth breathing staff, that thinks the times won’t turn against any republican nominee at midnight on the nigh of the GOP convention?
Even after all the mutual schmoozing?
It’s an old fashioned ethic... tell the truth and let the lies get themselves in their own trouble.
And anyhow the Times wants to hedge its bets in case Walker really does win. They know faith is a Force even though they strive hard to hoot at it. If they are the only unbelievers left on the block they will be lonely. At least they will pretend.
As for your snide remark about mouth breathers, that says a lot more about what you’re cherishing in your mind than about anything else.
Most assuredly the Times hates Walker and everything he stands for.
However, they are trapped in the FALSE conventional wisdom that his recent pronouncements on illegals ascertains his un-electability.
They don't see him as a legitimate contender.
Nah, even some unbelievers are compelled to realize that faith is a force.
Walker Responds to Cruz: 'I'm Going to Stand With the American Worker'

This is the presidential race
He’s trying to go up against a contender who sold nuclear armament to the Russians while she was Secretary of State

Are people kidding?
Does anyone have any idea how low the percentage is of NYT readers who will take this article at face value and not the , ‘watch out he’s after your birth control’ it’s meant to be?
Just wow
I can’t. What’s the gist?
