Just days after the United States announced it would send its own warships to Yemen in order to prevent Iran from smuggling weapons to terror forces fighting there, a flotilla of Iranian destroyers docked in the same area.
Irans military moves are likely to increase tensions between the two countries as each seeks to bolster opposing sides in the fight currently unfolding in Yemen.
An Iranian fleet including a destroyer warship and a helicopter-carrying warship arrived in the waters off the southern tip of Yemen on Wednesday, according to Iranian state-controlled media.
The warships will protect [Irans] cargo ships and oil tankers against pirates, according to Irans Fars News Agency.
The United States and other countries fear Iran is using these cargo ships to deliver weapons and other deadly hardware to opposition forces in Yemen.
The Iranian warships will remain in the area for at least three months, according to Fars.
Iranian military officials have been defiant about the countrys presence in the region, vowing to remain there despite pressure from other countries.
This presence [of Iranian warships] continues in the free waters, including the Gulf of Aden, to fight against piracy according to the plan which was drawn at the request of the International Maritime Organization and no one can warn the Iranian warships (to move away) and this has not happened yet, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari was quoted as saying in the Iranian press over the weekend.
It’s never good when zealots looking for Armageddon show up with weaponry known to have sunk your ships (USS Roberts).
“O” is sleepwalking into a leaf shredder
The ROE’s under LBJ for our Navy were rotten as well as the lack of back up for the Pueblo and Liberty sailors.
One can only imagine how restrictive the ROE’s are for our sailors in this ill conceived bs, under the yoke of the Muslim Brotherhood/pro ISIS thugs in charge of our pentagon and the out house.
Wow, that carrier group sure showed them! /s
Obunghole will order our ships to stand down. Can’t piss off his Muzzie-buddies.
Officials giving mixed messages on why US aircraft carrier shadowing Iranian convoy

An American aircraft carrier and its warplanes are shadowing an Iranian convoy approaching Yemen, as the U.S. beefs up its presence in the region — but back in Washington, officials can’t seem to agree on why.
Pentagon sources confirmed to Fox News that the USS Theodore Roosevelt is tracking the Iranian convoy, and also launching F/A-18 Hornets to conduct “manned reconnaissance” of the estimated nine Iranian ships.
Those ships are suspected of carrying weapons to rebel fighters in Yemen.
But State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf insisted Tuesday that the U.S. ships were “only” there to “ensure the shipping lanes remain open and safe” — and “not to do anything in terms of those Iranian ships.”
She blasted “misreporting” that asserted U.S. ships were prepared to intercept Iranian vessels.

Did anyone seriously think Obama was going to attack his Iranian buddies? All the talk to the contrary was absolutely laughable.
Our adversaries around the world are watching closely, and taking notes for future reference. They see weakness. They see indecision. They see opportunity.
I thought they were our nuke buddies
Gasoline, meet match.
Thank satanallah no one questions his mudslime faith!
Tonkin Gulf II
Wonder how many Israeli subs are there.
“a flotilla of Iranian destroyers docked in the same area.”
Docked?? Yikes!
Wonder what that traitor’s up to? Is he planning on ordering our sailors to abandon ship so the Iranians can seize the flotilla and then turn the guns on the bobbing lifeboats? Oh, the bubbly would flow in the White Hut after that little coup!
If you sent your flag to Yemen, you’re testing the waters.
Iran is testing the U. S. If we don’t do anything, Iran gets the message that it can do what it wants on the high seas.
Other nations watch, and they come to the same conclusion.
Pretty soon you have number of nations doing things that are internationally anti-social, and the U. S. sits around with it’s thumb up it’s... well never-mind.
This is not a good precedent. It’s Iran dictating foreign policy to another nation.
Boy are we on the decline.
Who’s side are we on?
DOCKED?
So much for interdiction. 0bama's a weenie.

I assume our pirate is there to back down Egypt and the Saudis from intercepting and inspecting Iran's cargo ships. What if they try? I don't know how their naval assets on site stack up against an Iranian destroyer, but I suspect they can deal with the situation from the air in any circumstance. And Egypts navy is the largest in the region, including several subs, but don't know what they sent. I suspect the Saudi/Egyptian, UAE forces could handle it. If we aren't preempting their inspections, why are we there. Do we want the rebels rearmed?
Arrrr, mateys! Board the scurvy dogs and take the booty!
