Iranian Warships Arrive Near Yemen

Iranian Warships Arrive Near Yemen Comes just days after U.S. announced it would send its own warships A fleet of Iranian warships arrived near the southern coast of Yemen on Wednesday in a move likely to add greater tension in a developing U.S.-Iranian standoff in the region, according Iranian military leaders.

Just days after the United States announced it would send its own warships to Yemen in order to prevent Iran from smuggling weapons to terror forces fighting there, a flotilla of Iranian destroyers docked in the same area.

Iran’s military moves are likely to increase tensions between the two countries as each seeks to bolster opposing sides in the fight currently unfolding in Yemen.

An Iranian fleet including a destroyer warship and a helicopter-carrying warship arrived in the waters off the southern tip of Yemen on Wednesday, according to Iranian state-controlled media.

The warships will “protect [Iran’s] cargo ships and oil tankers against pirates,” according to Iran’s Fars News Agency.

The United States and other countries fear Iran is using these cargo ships to deliver weapons and other deadly hardware to opposition forces in Yemen.

The Iranian warships will remain in the area for at least three months, according to Fars.

Iranian military officials have been defiant about the country’s presence in the region, vowing to remain there despite pressure from other countries.

“This presence [of Iranian warships] continues in the free waters, including the Gulf of Aden, to fight against piracy according to the plan which was drawn at the request of the International Maritime Organization and no one can warn the Iranian warships (to move away) and this has not happened yet,” Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari was quoted as saying in the Iranian press over the weekend.

It’s never good when zealots looking for Armageddon show up with weaponry known to have sunk your ships (USS Roberts).

The ROE’s under LBJ for our Navy were rotten as well as the lack of back up for the Pueblo and Liberty sailors.

One can only imagine how restrictive the ROE’s are for our sailors in this ill conceived bs, under the yoke of the Muslim Brotherhood/pro ISIS thugs in charge of our pentagon and the out house.

Re the USS Roberts:

http://www.navybook.com/no-higher-honor/

The USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG 58) was a small warship built for escort duty — much like its namesake vessel, one of the tin-can heroes of Leyte Gulf. But its skipper imbued his brand-new crew with their forebears’ fighting spirit, and when the guided missile frigate was thrust into the Persian Gulf at the height of the Iran-Iraq War, there was no better ship for the job.

For two months in 1988, captain and crew sailed a Gulf aflame, escorting tankers in Operation Earnest Will, the largest convoy operation since World War II. Forbidden to fire unless fired upon, they relied on wit and nerve to face down Iraqi fighter jets and Iranian warships.

The Roberts’ sternest test arrived on 14 April, when an Iranian mine ripped open its engineroom, ignited fires on four decks, and plunged the ship into darkness. With seawater rising around their boots, the crew fought flames and flooding into the night.

The ship’s tale of bravery and cool competence has become part of Navy lore and a staple of naval leadership courses. No U.S. warship since the Korean War has come closer to sinking in hostile action. The mining provoked Operation Praying Mantis, the biggest surface-ship battle in decades; helped end the Iran-Iraq War; and set the stage for conflicts to come.

Officials giving mixed messages on why US aircraft carrier shadowing Iranian convoy
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/04/21/sources-us-aircraft-carrier-fighter-jets-shadowing-iranian-convoy-near-yemen/?intcmp=latestnews

An American aircraft carrier and its warplanes are shadowing an Iranian convoy approaching Yemen, as the U.S. beefs up its presence in the region — but back in Washington, officials can’t seem to agree on why.

Pentagon sources confirmed to Fox News that the USS Theodore Roosevelt is tracking the Iranian convoy, and also launching F/A-18 Hornets to conduct “manned reconnaissance” of the estimated nine Iranian ships.

Those ships are suspected of carrying weapons to rebel fighters in Yemen.

But State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf insisted Tuesday that the U.S. ships were “only” there to “ensure the shipping lanes remain open and safe” — and “not to do anything in terms of those Iranian ships.”

She blasted “misreporting” that asserted U.S. ships were prepared to intercept Iranian vessels.

Looks like the carrier group was intended to prevent the Arab coalition from attacking the Persians and preventing their resupply effort. Probably part of the settlement reached with Iran.

Did anyone seriously think Obama was going to attack his Iranian buddies? All the talk to the contrary was absolutely laughable.

Our adversaries around the world are watching closely, and taking notes for future reference. They see weakness. They see indecision. They see opportunity.

Perhaps we should just quit spending all this money on the military. It’s obviously only meant for us.

At least the ROEs were clearer then. These days, under hussein, they seem more like they’re designed for the muslim Navy.

Nearly EVERY hostile country on the planet is making expansionist moves because the U.S. military has been hogtied by 0dungo. China is building islands with airstrips near the Philippines, etc... Russia is overtaking the Ukraine with eyes on more countries.. Iran is overtaking Iraq, Yemen, etc..

Fighter jets aboard the Roosevelt? No, they're just 'jets' now. We don't fight anymore.

Just imagine the myriad evolving threats that we haven’t yet seen because they are not publically known at this time. Our troubles are just beginning and we are in the early innings of a long and dangerous game.

The country is going to pay a huge price for electing Zero. The only question is how much more blood and treasure will it cost?
