Just broke within the last hour. Details to follow.

Admission that they cannot win on the ground. What part of Yemen does the old government even control now ? Think the west is Houtiland now. And the east is Al Qeada.

Did the potential confrontation with the Iranian convoy, being just a few hours away now, as it enters Yemeni waters, prompt this??

The reality is that despite huge expenditures procuring military ordinance, the Saudi army is an untested and unreliable ground force. The Saudi royals have absolutely no confidence that the rank and file will fight well or risk all to fight for the “kingdom”. The Saudis were unable to recruit the Pakistanis to fight in Yemen and apparently the Egyptians, despite the huge Saudi subsidies to their economy, did not agree to fight. It would not be an easy battle against the motivated Shi’ite tribesmen.

This is not good. I don’t see how they can claim their goals were reached if the Houthi are still advancing. This is a quit and go home approach. Perhaps with the U.S. Naval ships in the area they are looking at starving the rebels of arms and re-supplies.

‘Operation Restoring Hope’

Enough of naming these operations. Just kill the bastards and go home.

I wonder if Obama passed the Saudi’s a message that he did not want his Iranian Mullahs to lose any face and he would look harshly at any further interference in his plans to make Iran the new hegemon in that part of the world?

The Saudis spat in the general direction of Yemen and declared their effort over.

‘Operation Restoring Hope’

I would have picked a name with a different history.

A Saudi-led coalition will continue to target movements by the Houthi militia group inside Yemen, Saudi spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri said on Tuesday.

“The coalition will continue to prevent the movement of Houthi militias from moving or undertaking any operations inside Yemen,” Asseri told reporters in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

The announcement suggests military action by the Sunni Muslim states against the Iran-allied rebels may continue despite the announcement earlier of an end to the almost month-long military campaign.

Saudi king orders troops to join Yemen campaign
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/saudi-arabia-king-salman-national-guard-yemen-iran-houthi-rebels/

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has ordered the country’s National Guard — considered the Kingdom’s best trained and equipped military force — to join the military campaign against Iranian-backed Shiite rebels in neighboring Yemen.

National Guard troops had already deployed along Saudi Arabia’s southern border with Yemen, but the order from Salman on Tuesday could pave the way for a long-discussed ground incursion into Yemen to confront the rebels, known as Houthis.

The Saudi-led coalition pounded Shiite rebels in Yemen on Tuesday, killing 20 in a city in the country’s west as the civilian death toll rose to 38 from airstrikes the day before in the capital, Sanaa, officials said.

The National Guard is under command of a separate ministry in the Saudi power structure, answering directly to the monarchy, whereas the Air Force and the Land Force — the only military branches deployed in the Yemen campaign until Tuesday — are under the command of the Defense Ministry.

Once again if it comes down to sending boots on the ground in a foreign nation there are only 2 or 3 countries on earth that can do it...

Obama, according to the sycophant media in America. has asked the Saudis to stop the bombing.

Now it is clear: the Saudis were going to stop anyway. This Kabuki theatre was all done to make it look like Obama has influence. What a joke.

“Firmness Storm”? “Restoring Hope”? Do the Saudis pay the same people we do to come up with names for military operations?
