I believe Sen. Cruz distinguishes himself from the other potential GOP "shades of gray" candidates because he is anti-establishment GOP at his core. The others will attempt not to alienate the GOP-e, and therefore, they will have to finesse their views. Cruz will not, he is essentially a third party constitutional conservative running in the GOP primaries.

It’s hard not to like a man who sticks to his convictions.

This one issue defines if a conservative is Walking the Talk.

If they can't stand for traditional marriage, they aren't a conservative.

If I understand Cruz correctly, he is trying to do something that I support about abortion and gay marriage, fight it at all levels, and in any way possible, multiple fronts including state, federal, city and county.

Cruz supports DOMA, and Paul opposes it.

Ted Cruz: If I’m ever accused of being a Christian, I’d like there to be enough evidence to convict me.

It should be remarked to the SCOTUS that the most powerful advocates of homosexual marriage is *not* the people, *or* the individual states, but a relatively small group of federal judges who are *thrilled* with the idea.

Thrilled enough to force 230 million Americans to do what they want.

So this decision by the SCOTUS goes beyond the argument itself, to requiring a directive from the SCOTUS chastising these federal judges for their dictatorial arrogance, and directing them to determine the constitutionality of the law, *not* to make it themselves, *and* to defer to the states and the people, that *they* have the right and authority to determine the law and what is constitutional as well, *superior* to that of federal judges.

I can see why all the GOP-E pundits like Rubio. He has proven to be quite disappointing since he got to DC.

Not shades of gray, shades of gay, RINO GOP canadates...

Homosexual marriage or the homosexual agenda is not a conservative value.

Don’t know how the Rand Paul supporters are going to explain this one away...

No, wait !

Of course they will, they will just tell more lies...

Thank you for referencing that article VinL. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"— the issue of marriage has traditionally been left to the states ..."

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Please bear in mind that there would probably be all different faces on the Supreme Court at this time if state lawmakers hadn’t ratified the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, foolishly giving up their voices in Congress by doing so. Not only would Obamacare probably have been found unconstitutional by the Court, but there would be less of concern for how conservative justices would decide the constitutionality of gay marriage, likely clarifying that marriage is a 10th Amendment-protected state power issue.

The 17th Amendment needs to disappear.

With 95 percent of the GOP either faking or repudiating conservatism, a third party seems the only option in many cases.

But I support Cruz for president and Cruz only. Rubio, Walker and others are acceptable to the Establishment which means they are mushy in the end and will keep moving the country in the wrong direction.

Walker did the right thing in Wisconsin with the unions and I sent him money to help. But the business elites oppose the unions like I do for their own reasons and Walker pleased them too.

This man has my vote whether or not he’s the Republican nominee.

Right now, he’s the only candidate I’d cross the street to vote for.

I don’t get it. Gay marriage is a states rights issue if there ever was one.

Rubio’s Amnesty baggage is already more than enough to be showstopper for president - but coming out in support of gay marriage. PAAA-LEEEASE.

(and I used to like him)

Cruz = Fearless leader who stands on principle.

Paul & Rubio = Weasels who will change their positions and sell out their constituents in an attempt to further their political careers.
