The Muslims took over Christian Constantinople not the other way around. They are the usurpers. And we need a new crusade.....Right NOW.

That’s laughable. “Muslims will now really treat Christians and Christianity badly now that the Pope recognized the Armenian genocide”! And that’s going to change what exactly? I’m not a fan of this Pope, especially not of his socialism and “Climate Change” BS, however in this instance he was much more gutsy than his predecessors....or he had much less to lose as Erdogan’s predecessors were much more moderate and friendly to the West, and the prior Popes might not have wanted to undercut them. Erdogan however has proven himself to be quite an Islamist, and there is no reason for the West to handle him with kid gloves.

The implication in the headline is that its the Pope’s fault that the Hagia Sophia is being once again desecrated. As if a building is more important than the truth.

Hey Hizli,

The Crusades were in response to 400 years of Muslim slaughter and conquest of Christians and Jews.

What do YOU call the 1915 Turkish slaughter of 1.5 million Christian Armenians?

Get your history straight and quit whining!

“Frankly, I believe that the pope’s remarks will only accelerate the process for Hagia Sophia to be re-opened for [Muslim] worship,” Professor Mefail Hızlı, the mufti of Ankara, said in a written statement released late April 15.

What the fourth crusade started, the Muslims will finish.

Sounds like they found themselves a fine pretext, in a single word out of the Vatican.

The best contemporary account of the Armenian Genocide is free online. “Ambassador Morgenthau’s Story.” I found it at Google Books.

Morgenthau was the American ambassador to the Ottoman Empire during the years of WWI.

No sane person can deny that Armenians were slaughtered. For civilization to survive, we have to be reminded of the past to avoid its horrors in the present and future.

What's my point? Pope Francis stirred the pot. That would've been fine if he went on to DEMAND that Christians all over the globe have as their first priority stopping the genocide against Christians that's going on today.

There are a number of options, any one of which would get the Muslims' attention, none of which sadly will occur. To present one possibility: tell PM Erdogan that any conversion of the Hagia Sophia into a mosque would bring about an immediate takeover and conversion of the Moschea di Roma into a cathedral--and to really stick it in their eye, to name it the Cathedral of St. Louis, after the canonized Crusader.

You murdered 1.5 million Armenian Christians. Don’t get pissed when we mention it.

The Pope’s words didn’t accelerate anything. It’s subhuman savages who have nothing but hatred for Christians who did the accelerating.
