With the Secret Service still smarting from its 2012 prostitution scandal in Cartagena, Colombia, another federal law agency is in hot water over an even more salacious sex scandalin the same country.
The Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Michelle Leonhart, Tuesday faced a grueling three-hour inquisition from the House Oversight Committee over an Inspector Generals report that found DEA agents in Bogota, Colombia engaged in sex parties with prostitutes and that the parties were paid for by the very drug cartels the DEA was sent to fight.
This behavior is not acceptable, Leonhart said in her opening statement. It is my hope that the additional training and guidance we have provided to all personnelparticularly those stationed overseaswill prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
Her contrition did little to calm members of either party, who were incensednot only at the infraction itself, but also at the weak discipline meted out to the still unnamed participantsa maximum of a two-week suspension.

Probably a two week suspension with pay - otherwise known as extra vacation.

There is no way to fix a government this broken.
I thought Colombian prostitutes had more class than that.
DISMISS, FIRE, Discharge, release or whatever but get rid of them..
Just look at 0bama.
She can’t fire them because the actual guilty party was black, while the ones sent home for show were White.
If they were whistle blowers you can bet their asses would be gone.
Hope shes learning the antagonizing way that zero hangs his ego-tripping female managers out to dry, with no cover. All his idiot wenches need to wake up that they are about to be unemployed and unemployable: all the fed employees will be fighting to the death for their spoils very soon.
Classic muslim behavior: despise females but make them do all the work, sell and trade them, but hide behind them when there’s incoming.
I’m torn in this instance. The administrator may actually be unable to do more - the civil service laws are byzantine and draconian in defending “civil servants”.
I’d like to see a real analysis of the protections given the guilty agents before taking potshots at the administrator.
Why can’t they be fired?
SHE needs to fall. She is as unfit for an executive position to carry out the will of the Congress. Have her give up her keys, her computer and let her do food stamps.
IMHO, this is much ado about nothing. Prostitution isn’t illegal in Colombia, so these men didn’t commit a crime, and unless a federal employee is found guilty of a felony, it’s not possible to fire him. As for the accusation that the drug cartel paid for these prostitutes, prove it and it still doesn’t constitute a felony.
It would be great if Congress could find something more important to investigate than the sex lives of DEA agents.
It’s damn near impossible to fire a civil service person. They would have to have committed murder, and then it would have a review by committees.....
I agree.
An example of why goverment is not as efficient as the private sector.
