"Not long after he arrived on the national scene in 2010 Republican Senator and forthcoming presidential candidate Marco Rubio was exploited by the liberal media as a way to depict Republicans as anti-immigrant. Anchors like ABCs George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Rose portrayed him as a token Latino in the GOP. MSNBCs Donny Deutsch actually hurled a racial slur against Rubio, calling him a coconut.
When they werent making attacks, based on his Cuban heritage, anchors and reporters were writing him off as a joke because he of his awkward grabbing of a water-bottle during his response to Barack Obamas 2013 State of the Union address. CNN ran a headline that asked Career Ender? as Wolf Blitzer posited: So, can a drink of water make or break a political career? NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams proclaimed that it would be remembered forever.
On top of the slurs and jokes also came the usual liberal media slams about him being a part of the GOPs war on women, poor and the elderly".

I need to hear more from Fiorina before making a VP list. I understand she’s saying all the right things lately.
Really? Ever?
Or is that 'conventional wisdom'?

Agree we need Florida it is a must for us . I don’t like him giving up his seat though.
Coconut is a racial slur? Lived in Florida my whole 40 years and never heard that before.
Yes, the media will tear him apart, but it may not be any worse than some of the things certain Freepers say about all the candidates whose name is not Ted Cruz.
I like Cruz, and he displayed a lot of maturity and smarts with his nice statement about Rubio. Some of his fans could take a page from Ted’s book regarding the seriousness of our beloved country’s situation. We should not be tearing each other apart and we need to concentrate on the Democrats.
First, I would need more than a drink of water to be able to respond to Obama, and second, Marco had special water bottles made up after that and raised money selling them.
Rubio did himself in when he started scheming with Schumer against the citizens. His Gang activity precludes me voting for him. Cruz will pick his own running mate and it won’t be Rubio.
If it was Cruz/Rubio, that would be a double Latino GOP ticket That would drive the liberals mad.
I agree she's been saying the un-sayable and bearding the Dems, which is a great thing. But if she were Veep, that would be . . . Well, you know how it would be such a great thing to have a woman President? Well, it wouldn't. Backing up a step, there's no way a female Veep it would bring a single Dem vote to the GOP ticket, and might inspire quite a few conservative voters to stay home from sheer boredom.
On her in particular, I don't know what Carly's been through since she ran for Senate several years back, but she was a pro-abort Republican coming off a run as an affirmative-action disaster at H-P, as you well know. I just don't know how you climb away from those things in your character without pretty much rebuilding yourself from the inside out. Has she done so? I haven't heard so if she has.
Cruz e Rubio!
It's already over for me. Cruz with Fiorina as VP.
Cruz y Rubio!
The smart thing for Cruz to do RE: the veep pick, is to choose someone like the Ohio Governor, Rubio, or the New Mexico Governor. Ohio is another must win state.
See post #15 for an article about who Fiorina really is from a conservative perspective.
Doing the Electoral College math on red and blue states, Florida seems critical for the GOP unless there is a blow out. I don’t expect a blow out. Unfortunately.
I agree. The two “no go” candidates for me are Bush and Christie. I’m not big on Huckabee either.
Ted Cruz will choose better than that. Whoever he chooses will not be pro-abortion or pro-amnesty. Rubio and Fiorina are out.
Rubio has been contrite about his dalliance with Schumer and amnesty for illegal aliens . He was absolutely awesome tonight on Hannity. I now love the guy. This young man is destined to be President. What a quick mind and command!! Truly impressive. He will make a wonderful vice president with Rand Paul!!
