Lauren Hill spent her final year polishing a layup and inspiring others to live fully. She succeeded at both as she fought an inoperable brain tumor.
The 19-year-old freshman basketball player at Mount St. Joseph University died at a hospital Friday morning, the co-founder of her nonprofit foundation told The Associated Press.
"Through Lauren's fundraising and advocacy efforts, she not only became a spotlight on the lack of funding for cancer research, but she most certainly has become a beacon guiding researchers for years to come," The Cure Starts Now co-founder Brooke Desserich said.

At first, I thought this was about the singer.

Rest In Peace, Lauren, you were an inspiration to so many who knew you, both on and off the court.

I am thinking that you are right. I have had two friends grandsons die of cancer in the last year and I don’t remember that happening before.

May she find eternal peace in God’s loving arms and may her friends and family be comforted during this difficult time.

At the Women’s final, they had a very nice tribute to her with family/coach holding her jersey. Nice touch, she was not there, now know why. It was a very nicely done piece.

Practicing a basketball move that results in a basket being scored by bouncing it off of the backboard. She loved basketball and tried to play until she was unable.

Perfecting it - making the shot. Left hand layup with left foot up, right hand layup right foot up, etc.

Research efforts need to be directed increasingly towards finding a cause for cancer identify risks and how to prevent it.Something tells me a lot of(Gov.)funds were covertly re-directed towards...AIDS research.
The hollywood/media outcry over AIDS made Ebola seem like the common cold by comparison...now you rarely hear about AIDS/cases anymore...why is that?
