With such a great opportunity to address this type of situation, the Onion failed to capitalize on the issue as much as they should have. This was not one of their best, and in a situation where their best was called for.
Not even close to their best. I remember back when people would routinely post Onion articles here and half the freepers here would fall for it. Hook,line and sinker.
Not reading the source, I fell into that trap once or twice. Heh heh heh...
