Joshua Feuerstein says bakery wouldn't make a cake that said 'we do not support gay marriage'

Longwood bakery owners receive an outpouring of support after refusing to bake a cake with an anti-gay marriage message on it. Amanda Ober (@AmandaOberWESH) reports on what criminal charges could be filed in the cake controversy.

Cut the Cake bakery said it has lost business and faced harassment since last week when evangelist Joshua Feuerstein posted a video of the bakery owner refusing to make a cake that said, "We do not support gay marriage."

Feuerstein talked to WESH 2 News via Skype on Tuesday and said he opposes same-sex marriage, but he has no hatred for the LGBT community.

He said his goal was to show that those on both sides of the issue should have the freedom to refuse service when it conflicts with their beliefs.

"We wanted to see if a pro-LGBT bakery would bake a cake for something that it was opposed to, what they believed in, and you know what, I actually believe that Cut the Cake has every right as an American to refuse to print that on a cake. But now, of course, the news story all across the nation is that I'm a bigot and a homophobe," he said.

As for the impact of Feuerstein's phone call on the baker, he said he quickly removed the posting when he learned that the owners were being harassed.

In the meantime, the bakery owner said she may pursue criminal charges against Feuerstein for recording the phone call without her consent.

A GoFundMe account for the bakery has brought in over $13,000 to cover its losses.

Is it possible to somehow get around certain obstacles, because with so much of the population in support, we are all in serious trouble.

The country is in decline and these people are beating each other up over cake decorations.
Why isn’t it just a cake?

The cake is the tail. The homo-agenda is the dog they are currently wagging.

I want the Halal butcher to cut up my pig.

If he doesn’t, I’m filing charges.

I don’t support homosexual marriage, but good grief, why get a cake with this type of message on it?

It’s not going to stop people from being homosexual. It’s just a waste of time, and a very negative one at that.

If I am asked an opinion regarding homosexuality, I answer it with my true beliefs. I don’t try to make life miserable for anyone including homosexuals.

If the baker wants to refuse to make this type of cake, more power to him. If he wants to, I could care less.

When did our nation become filled with such a winey bunch of malcontents?

Has someone dressed up as a Muzzie and asked a bakery to do an anti-gay cake with Koran verses?

Whether you or I like it, the Homosexual cause is being framed as a Civil Rights issue. Courts see it that way.

In light of this, the courts will see one situation as a denial of civil rights, and the other as a denial of a “racial type” insult to someone with civil rights.

This effort was misguided. It stands zero chance of being seen like this guy that requested the cake wanted it to be seen as.

I recall when food fights involved lemon meringue pies or even just plain whipped cream. Those were fun.

The current 21 century idea of a food fight is b-o-o-o-ring!

No, it gave an excuse. The excuse was not a valid reason.

A valid reason would have a reason expectation of success.

This was just foolhardy.

Thanks for playing...

Well, if I’m lucky you’ll remember the next time. That way you can save yourself the embarrassment.

You know, you popped up to try to make a snarky point and it blew up in your face. Now you’re trying to act as if you take the high road and I’m just being unfair to you.

If you don’t want to get in return what you attempt to dish out, take a pass on it next time.

That way Sam Clemens wouldn’t be right about you.

Oh yes, and have a good evening.

I simply asked if you had read the posted article as it answered your query.

You admitted that "Iread what was printed here" implying that you had not read the article.

I was not being snarky and nothing blew up in my face.

I have not been condescending, unpleasant nor argumentative.
