How can Da Gummint buy them BACK if they never owned them to begin with..?

The concept only works under the presumption that all guns naturally belong to the government a priori.

Show up at the buyback with a fish. Then, bring them an old sock. Stand and argue with them.

“This is an assault Trout.”

“This sock has killed millions of people.”

You can always tell when the Democrats are in trouble because they start talking gun control.

Return the favor and tell them that food stamp recipients should receive some vegetable seeds and three live chickens.

I can’t see too many people turning in $1000 rifles for a tax credit. If anyone does (e.g., ex-wife), I’m sure there will be plenty of folks willing to give them $500+ in cold cash for it.

Congressional Democrats plan to introduce national gun buyback legislation for “assault weapons.”

So what?

This is a nothing story for 2 reasons (at least).

1) We know they hate guns.

2) This can't pass.

If you read the law, it’s a great law. I’d support it.

10 pages, 8 of them defining the different arms the law considers applies.

Then the law: during a two year period, you can turn in one of the aforementioned arms for two $1000 tax credits: one in the current year, and one in the next tax year.

What a great law. I can buy an AR-15 for $700 new and trade it in for $2000 in tax savings. $1300 my pocket, and $700 to the gunmaker of my choice. They should rename this law the “gun owners and manufacturers enrichment act”.

If it actually passed, everybody that pays taxes would take advantage. Considering I just today wrote a multi-thousand dollar check to the IRS, I think this is a wonderful idea.

for SAFER STREETS my ass. If liberals were able to speak truth to the subject they would say they want to disarm Americans for the control factor. End of story. Buy back using tax dollars?? Take a flying leap you communist cowards.

This bill wouldn't go anywhere even if Democrats controlled the US House of Representatives.

"Though DeLauro is in favor of stronger guns laws that would completely ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition"

What is "high-capacity ammunition"? Does this crazy dingbat have even the slightest idea of what she is talking about?

($2000 tax credit? The maximum current tax rate is 39.6%, so this should put a maximum price floor of $792 on anything that might fit their buyback specifications. Better stock up on .22 target ARs before the 'rats rake over!)

I remember back some years ago (around the time that DifI's "assault weapons ban") when the sponsors in some major were offering $500 for any "assault weapon".

The problem was (surprise, surprise) the sponsors weren't really sure as to what constituted a "assault weapon", so these basically firearms-ignorant do-gooders found themselves making it up as they went along.

Some wise guy took in an SKS, and after he showed them the bayonet, he convinced them that the SKS was indeed, a Dreaded Assault Weapon.

The word got out about this pretty quickly, and some local gunners started buying up all the SKS's they could get their hands on, for the princely sum of $119.00 at the local gun shop.

The "gun buyback" had to close down early because they were paying $500.00 for lots and lots of $119.00 Chinese junk rifles.
