So does having a gun make you safe? No. In fact, it makes you, your family and your community far less safe. A recently published study in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that a gun in your home makes you more likely to be a victim of suicide, accidental shooting or homicide.

Yup. Just like nannie bloomers and the momunists demand keep sqwaking. If there's a gun in the house, chances of misuse increase by no less than 1,500% or more.

Just as hard to use something you don’t have. At which point you’re really going to wish you had it.

maybe if you are a ‘victim of suicide’ it was not the gun that was at fault

Pretty damned compelling evidence suggesting that ALL Public Employees in the STATE relinquish their firearms for the children!

So, in the interest of safety, shouldn’t Blacks and Jews be disarmed?

Yeah, so?
Having a car makes you more likely to die in traffic.
Having a pool makes you more likely to drown.
Having a hammer makes your more likely to smash your thumb.

You can't use tools you don't have to hurt yourself.
You can't use them for anything good either.

You can't use a gun you don't have to defend yourself but that is apparently irrelevant to this writer.

"A recently published study in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that a gun in your home makes you more likely to be a victim..."

Logic Fail. Classic "Post hoc ergo propter hoc" false argument. If this was the case, possession of hypodermic needles makes you more likely to contract diabetes.

The victims of suicide are those alive who are left to make excuses for the weak-willed.

More likely than average for the nation, or more likely for the census tract? Because that is a pretty huge difference.

And really, if there’s no gun in the home, how can you be a victim of an accidental shooting? That’s a marvelously stupid statistic right there.

The article, “study” and premise is a fraud. It’s been proven wrong and a fraud over and over. The single most dangerous armed group that has murdered children with guns in mass numbers is a government that has succeeded at disarming its population. Nothing else comes close.

Morning Laz. Of course you know that John Lott’s stuff is all hogwash and all made up with no supporting material. Oh, wait. That would be nannie bloomers and momunists altering the material. Never mind. :>}

The anti-gun news media have been posting this drivel since 1968. Back then they actually had people going in and turning over their guns to the police.

The NAACP wants a return to the black and slave codes which forbade blacks from even touching a gun.

Now we have “buy backs”. Which is weird since the folks “buying them back” never had them in the first place. Some enterprising folks have been smart enough (where legal) to set up their own “buy backs” just down the street from the city, county official “buy back” location.

1. Dubious study because it fails to account for lives saved. 2. Irrelevant anyway because even if guns result in a net increase in deaths or accidents in the home — and they must for accidents at least — they’re still the key to maintaining our safety from a police state dictatorship (wherein, history teaches us, there’d be far greater losses of life), 3. This is America not some other country where guns can be banned. “ the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be Infringed” 4. We are not only born in America with the inalienable rights to arms, liberty, and self- defense, but we have free will to assume risks of accidents in our lives if we wish ( just as we do when we drive cars, try to digest a Big Mac, or go shopping at Walmart. Those seeking to grab our guns are not only disrespecting our rights, they’re disrespecting us as human beings. 5. They couldn’t possibly grab more than two or three percent of the estimated 400 million guns in America, anyway. Do you know anyone who’d give their armnaments up to a government diktat? Such an order would be the very signal of a dictatorship - just as was King George’s orders to disarm the Americans — you know, the diktat that helped set off the American Revolution. Finally, we are a threatened now by six years of obama importing enemy agents from every radical anti- Americsn anti- Christian islamoNazi Krapistan on earth. He’s building up the Islsmonazi Enemy Within - in cities and towns and villages from sea to shining sea. Even once- safe Midwestern and southern rural areas are not safe from this onslaught. Nobody’s giving up their guns - no matter if guns can be accidentally injurious and no matter how many studies reports “laws” or executive orders may come down on us. The whole subject of gun control” is a non-starter in the face of this clear and present danger from within our borders Finally, let’s remember that an armed citizenry is still the last defense against our external enemies, too. Our founders weren’t stupid. They knew guns can accidentally misfire. They knew guns can be misused too. They also realized that a disarmed population is a defenseless poplation - one that will be enslaved by either domestic or foreign enemies of our freedom and liberties, our faith and our independence. Gun control? Forget it! Now, go out and add to your collection today. ( Better pick up some extra ammo, too — see all the reports about the obama administration trying to deplete the market of bullets ).

My son seems to have “mixed” well with guns. He’s fast becoming a better shot than I, and has expressed interest in becoming a Marine sniper.

Another dishonest and incorrect opinion stated as a fact. This is up to the Rolling Stone standards of journalism.

If the number/% increased as much as they claim(500%, 1000%, your choice) then yes, we would need to have all the “trespassers” moving in just to keep up the kill rate. With 300+million firearms available, we should all be gone by now. And yet the IPOS/SPOS/LPOS/UPOS constituency keeps drinking the kool aid. But they can tell you what the kardashians and transformer jenner are doing.
