Islamic State takes 90 percent of Damascus refugee camp: monitor [Isaiah 17]

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Islamic State has taken control of 90 percent of a Palestinian refugee camp on the Damascus outskirts where 18,000 civilians have suffered years of bombing, army siege and militia control, a monitoring group said on Saturday.

The hardline group's offensive in Yarmouk gives it a major presence in the capital. Islamic State, the most powerful insurgent group in Syria, is now only a few kilometers from President Bashar al-Assad's seat of power.

The United Nations has said it is extremely concerned about the safety and protection of Syrians and Palestinians in the camp. Civilians trapped there have long suffered a government siege that has led to starvation and disease.

"The situation in Yarmouk is an affront to the humanity of all of us, a source of universal shame," U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) spokesman Chris Gunness said. "Yarmouk is a test, a challenge for the international community. We must not fail. The credibility of the international system itself is at stake," he said.

The Western Powers believed they were choosing the lesser of two evils by siding with rebel groups in Syria, rather than the Iranian backed Assad. This decision has only destablized the region and allowed ISIS to become entrenched, making progress towards the capture of Damascus.

What will Assad do in his final moments? Will he unleash his chemical arsonnel? What will ISIS do when they control Damascus and its chemical weapons store? Will Israel bear the brunt of Assad's wrath? Will ISIS launch chemical weapons against Israel? Will Israel launch a preemptive nuclear strike to eliminate this threat?

The Bible prophet Isaiah foretold an amazing event. Damascus, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, would disappear in a moment being reduced to rubble. Isaiah seems to indicate that Israel will be blamed for the destruction drawing the ire of the entire world. This action prompts a large coalition of nations to move on Israel to resolve the situation (presumably Ezekiel 38).

Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. 2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken : they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down , and none shall make them afraid . 3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. 4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin , and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean . 5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim. 6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel. 7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker , and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. 8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made , either the groves, or the images. 9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation. 10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: 11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow , and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish : but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow. 12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! 13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. 14 And behold at eveningtide * trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

The credibility of the international system itself is at stake,” he said.

That failed a long time ago.

Psalm 83 New International Version (NIV)

A song. A psalm of Asaph.

1 O God, do not remain silent;
do not turn a deaf ear,
do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,
how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation,
so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”

5 With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Byblos, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
to reinforce Lot’s descendants.[b]

9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who perished at Endor
and became like dung on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, “Let us take possession
of the pasturelands of God.”

13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,
like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest
or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so pursue them with your tempest
and terrify them with your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame, Lord,
so that they will seek your name.

17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;
may they perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord—
that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Makes you wonder. If there was no Israel, what would the middle east look like and how would the muzzies act? They would have nobody to blame for their POS existence, except themselves.

If there was no Israel, what would the middle east look like and how would the muzzies act?

It would be pretty much the same as now.

The only difference: The Shia and the Sunni would just want to kill each other, instead of wanted to kill each other and the Jews, as it is now.

One of the stories I read said the Palestinian Militias were fighting Assad too, now they are fighting ISIS. One really wonders what is going on over there.

So close to Assad but ISIS has been in the city for some time.

I recently watched on youtube someone proclaim that Psalm 83 is just a prayer, not a prophecy. Yet how to explain that these groups seem to disappear and are missing from the prophecy about the final battle?

They have been fighting each other for, literally, millennia. Israel is simply the latest foil.

First the Sunni and Shiite will slaughter each other. Then the fun begins.

I doubt if the end of this year comes without a major conflict over there.

Great Point! They are missing from the Ezekiel 38 Coalition (Russian Coalition). They also seem to be missing from Armageddon (remainder of world nations)

I accidentally put Psalms 38 instead of Isaiah 17

Don’t worry—Obama’s free Syrian army is on the way.
What if the possibility exists that ISIS joins up with Iran on the unholy alliance that Israel becomes their target. A very real possibility. Their moon god Allah vs. Jehovah God of Israel. Showtime.,,,

Psalm 38 is most apropos.............

Psalm 38 New International Version (NIV)

A psalm of David. A petition.

1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.
2 Your arrows have pierced me,
and your hand has come down on me.
3 Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin.
4 My guilt has overwhelmed me
like a burden too heavy to bear.

5 My wounds fester and are loathsome
because of my sinful folly.
6 I am bowed down and brought very low;
all day long I go about mourning.
7 My back is filled with searing pain;
there is no health in my body.
8 I am feeble and utterly crushed;
I groan in anguish of heart.

9 All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you.
10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;
even the light has gone from my eyes.
11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds;
my neighbors stay far away.
12 Those who want to kill me set their traps,
those who would harm me talk of my ruin;
all day long they scheme and lie.

13 I am like the deaf, who cannot hear,
like the mute, who cannot speak;
14 I have become like one who does not hear,
whose mouth can offer no reply.
15 Lord, I wait for you;
you will answer, Lord my God.
16 For I said, “Do not let them gloat
or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.”

17 For I am about to fall,
and my pain is ever with me.
18 I confess my iniquity;
I am troubled by my sin.
19 Many have become my enemies without cause[b];
those who hate me without reason are numerous.
20 Those who repay my good with evil
lodge accusations against me,
though I seek only to do what is good.

21 Lord, do not forsake me;
do not be far from me, my God.
22 Come quickly to help me,
my Lord and my Savior.

The liberals need Islam to bring down Christianity...so until liberals are gone, there must be an Islam (or they would have to invent another one).
