I bought a car that had “excessive tint” on the windows. After no problems for 2 years, I was pulled over twice in one week by two different PDs. The second cop handed me an inspection order, and it ended up that the tint on the windows was 3% (how could they even GUESS that insignificant an “infraction?”) too dark, so I had to pull it off. And pay a fine, and pay for the inspection...

It’s obvious that neither cop had never driven on the prairies or through the desert in the summer. You NEED that dark tint in the 100+* sun!

The dark tint laws are there for driver safety. As a professional driver I try to make eye contact with other drivers who are preparing to pull onto the road. If you make eye contact, you know your chances of the driver pulling in front of you are minimal. The restrictions here are for only the driver and passenger/windshield areas.
