Dem bill establishes kids' weekend meals program
The Hill ^ | March 30, 2015 | By Cristina Marcos

Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.) has unveiled legislation to establish a program, so schools and food banks can offer meals to low-income students on weekends and holidays.

Titus's bill would create a five-year pilot program for providing food to students eligible for free or reduced lunch during the week, when school is out.

The Nevada Democrat noted the measure comes at the same time as many schools are out for spring break. Students who rely on meals provided during the school day for sustenance consequently might not have enough to eat. "Vacation from school should never mean hunger for children. This legislation will fill a gap in federal programming and provide funding for nutritious meals to ensure that vacation from school does not mean hunger for children," Titus said in a statement.

You mean more food programs in schools like the ones kids don’t eat now.

Just remember, all this started when the school bus began coming around to pick up the kids. Now it is evening meals and weekend meals. Just hand your kids over to them parents.

Sounds like the Russian orphange where we got our child. Many kids had a family, parents visited on the weekends. Told my husband, folks in US would do it to, if it were provided.

"Vacation from school should never mean hunger for children.

What it is with stupid liberal parents? They can't pour cereal into a bowl and add milk? Does the concept of putting something between two pieces of bread blow their already low IQ mind?

You mean more food programs in schools like the ones kids don’t eat now.

More opportunities for "connected" Dems to make money by supplying substandard food to schools.

My late father, when he was able to go to school, took cornbread topped with lard.

Sounds like liberals don’t think that people can feed their kids. Even though these allegedly poor families are already getting food stamps to feed the kids,,apparently its not enough. Now we have to feed them 24/7. But then what to make of the fact that too many kids don’t want to eat the slop being served in schools ???

And more gov’t employees cooking and serving the food. I bet illegals could fill those jobs. Then they might start a laundry and maid service so the children can have a clean environment.

Thank you for referencing that article Oldeconomybuyer. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

The states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend for weekend meal programs for kids. So not only should such funding have never left the states, the states uniquely having the constitutional authority to establish their own weekend lunch for kids programs, but consider this.

Rep. Titus is likely working such legislation to win votes from low-informantion parents who have never been taught about the fed’s constitutionally limited powers.

And why isn't Hitlery chiming in here, talking about how she's "...going to have to take things away from these people, for the common good?"

Oh, yeah, I forgot..this is her clientele. Wouldn't want to upset them or anything.
