The co-pilot of the crashed Germanwings plane, Andreas Lubitz, had received treatment for suicidal tendencies years ago, investigators have said, but not in recent doctor visits.
Officials in Duesseldorf said that the investigation had so far shown no clue to any motive.

This is an example of big government at work. Privacy laws can not be one size fits all. My understanding is that the doctors were not permitted to notify the airline of health conditions detrimental to public safety.
I don’t know why the ex girlfriend didn’t go to his employer with what she saw and what she knew.
Even if she did it anonymously... she certainly knew enough to be concerned.
Those people didn’t deserve that.
There are going to be any number of reasons they’ll pawn off on us. He was suicidal because his girl friend dumped him is as good as any I suppose. Would be really difficult to explain that a new Muslim convert was piloting the plane and he crashed it into the mountains, on purpose, killing a plane full of people. Any excuse would be better than that one.
