The watchdog group Americans United for Separation of Church and State is calling foul on Sen. Ted Cruz’s appearance at Liberty University last week and pointing to it as an example of the need for renewed IRS enforcement.
In a letter to the IRS, Americans United said Cruz’s speech at an LU convocation on March 23 amounted to a campaign rally that students had to attend or risk being fined.
This is “precisely the sort of activity that should warrant an investigation into the school’s tax status,” reads the letter signed by Americans United Executive Director Barry Lynn.
“It sure looks and smells and walks and feels like an endorsement to us,” Lynn added during an interview.

The Democrat media will be questioning his breathing, so this is to be expected. They find nothing wrong in Hillary’s destruction of government property by wiping her hard drive of her “private” emails, however, to avoid congressional scrutiny. Everyone knows there is a double standard, but we simply accept it now.
Somebody should ask that Society exactly where it says in the Constitution that “Church” has to be separated from “State”.
The fact is that it prohibits State from creating an official religion, not total separation. Nor does it require “church” to set itself aside from “state”.
The framers well understood the potential evil of central government and their strongest protections are those that prohibit it from doing many things.

What do they call the degree that prepares one to work for a liberal “watchdog group?” Transgender pottery?
Phoooey! Watchdog group! What a crock. A pack of feral mongrels! IMHO.
Its in the constitution now because the supreme court decided (in the 1930’s I think) that there is separation of church and state based on a single letter written by Jefferson to a concerned church. All of the cases against Christianity since then have been using that precedent.
The constitution is altered this way every year, just like with Obamacare. Our only recourse is article 5 which would reassert states rights and stop this progressive crap..

It interprets it (Constitution and laws enacted therefrom) and issues rulings for government and lower courts to follow.
The important thing about this is that the original words are not changed AND that interpretations of the Court can change over the years and reverse themselves.

You’re exactly right Gaffer. It’s unbelievable how the left has twisted/distorted/discarded/ignored/changed the plain meaning and intention of so much of the Constitution.
This “watchdog group” is another lawyer support entity. The last 990 I could find was for 2012. It took in about $6 million and had $5.7 million in expenses. It had $5.5 million in expenses. Salaries and wages were almost $2.5 million. They have 8 people making around $100,000.00 a year. Barry Lynn makes about $200,000.00 a year.
I have been posting about these so-called “charities” or nonprofits for over 10 years here on Free Republic. Why in the hell are groups like this subsidized by me, us, the taxpayers???

What a pitty they couldn’t call him an Evangelist, Morman,or Baptist Bible Thumper. He’s a Catholic, like John Kennedy and no matter how hard they really can’t go for that shot. Now if he were a Muslim and celebrating every Muslim Holiday in the White House, I’m sure they would be making objections, NOT!
They don’t complain when democrats give speeches at Berserkeley, Columbia, Wesleyan, etc.
