Texas House of Representatives lawmaker Jason Villalba sparked quite a controversy earlier this month after proposing a bill that would make it illegal to photograph a police officer from within 25 feet. People were so angered by the idea that Villalba has received death threats from angry members of the public.

He is a republican.
A dumb one.
Seems to be a lot of them.
But it is okay to do upskirt photo’s because it’s considered art .....
Some politicians need ass-whoopings, but this was over the top.

He doesn’t seem to understand the bill of rights.
This is a PHOTO. It was taken by a CAMERA.
I DO **NOT** LIKE CAMERAS..!!
What if EVERYONE had a camera, hmm...?!
To be fair, I’ve seen people stick their phones in the faces of the police while they are trying to do their job. It’s really a damned shame that we now have to attempt to legislate common sense, which is always a bad idea.
I very seriously doubt he is receiving bonafide death threats. I do believe that he has had associates make them up. I would not doubt him getting threatening letters and/or phone calls. I just do not believe that they are genuine.
Things are wound way too tight, gonna start popping.
Agree.
And if it isn't assault, then the cops are going to have to learn to live with it.
Lots of exaggeration goes on that needs to be stopped. Even with the cops.

I think I read that Jason Villalba is a Republican. Interesting, I thought Democrats were the only ones that received death threats. I have to say Representative Villalba’s bill and his “death threats” sure seem very Democrat to me.
The US could use some transparency on public property; including the oval office...
This guy is a real moron. This is exactly what you’d expect from a Dem totalitarian Leftist, but there are some really nut job Republicans that are into Big Brother government.
It’s getting hard to tell.
“He is a republican.
A dumb one.”
That’s becoming redundant lately.
Rick Perry comes to mind. He was some kind of high-power Gore guy in the Dem party when Rove convinced him to become a republican.
And of course, there are the voters that don't care, except that the candidate have an R by his name, to heck with the politics.
Blame the voters for voting for liberal, former democrat liberals as Republicans.

“To be fair, Ive seen people stick their phones in the faces of the police while they are trying to do their job”
Red herring. If they interfere by sticking a phone in an officers face as he is doing his work, they are already committing a crime. But this is about someone with an iphone documenting police abuse.
THAT is who has been making the police angry.
