Scott Walker: If you’re on our team, ‘you need to respect the voters’
Washington Times ^ | March 20, 2015 | David Sherfinski

Speaking in South Carolina Thursday, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker alluded indirectly to the recent departure of a communications aide he had brought onto his political team after she had drawn fire over tweets she sent about Iowa, an early presidential state.

“One of my clear rules is, if you’re going to be on our team, whether on the paid staff or a volunteer, what I always say is you need to respect the voters,” Mr. Walker said in Greenville, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. “Because, really, if you think about campaigns, it’s not about the candidate or the staff. It’s about the voter. It’s about how to help people’s lives be better.

Rush: Why Scott Walker Scares Barney Frank "...FRANK: Scott Walker is dangerous. We talk a lot about diminishing inequality. That will not happen if we do not strengthen labor unions. Scott Walker is bragging about his assault on -- on unions. In fact, he preposterously claimed that the fact that he's been so tough on unions will intimidate the Islamic State and Putin. Hey, listen, I didn't take any crap from these janitors, so you better get out of Ukraine. Ludicrous intellectually, but dangerous politically."...

"It’s about how to help people’s lives be better."

It's about getting government out of the way so people can make their own lives better, Governor.

YES! And that is exactly what Walker says over and over.

Handled perfectly, much to the dismay of a lot of conservative media types I usually enjoy. It doesn’t matter if this person is really good at her job. She embarassed herself and the campaign ridculing the very voters they HAVE to win in Iowa.

It doesn’t matter whether this primary layout is the best it could be. It isn’t. In 2015 and 2016, it is 100% certain they will be the first to weigh in, and you must respect the process. For whatever we think of Obama, his campaign utterly nailed the Iowa primary in campaign operations and paved the way to Pennsylvania Avenue instantly. This operative is a wild card. There has to be others they can hire that bring the same talents to the team.

Appears to me that the commentators in many cases, especially panels, are more interested in how they “ sound” to each other than true analysis.

Following up on your comment, just about every boss has made the mistake of hiring somebody who turns out to be a turkey. The test of a really good boss is whether he makes the mistake of sticking with the turkey and getting into worse trouble or immediately pulls chain. Walker did the right thing by immediately pulling the chain.

It worked with the Russians when Reagan fired PATCO.

I’m waiting for him to tell illegal aliens they must respect the laws. The voters want the laws enforced.
We don’t want to change the laws to benefit them, which is what most of the politician want to do.

The Left HAS NO RESPECT FOR THE VOTERS!

The left respects voters who vote for their side, just as the right respects voters who vote for their side as well. Nothing surprising about that.

SW went after public sector unions and the ability of unions to extort money from every worker under their control.

Wisconsin spends more per capita than her neighbors and states of a similar size. He can't have shrunk it much.

[Art., quoting Scott Walker]
“One of my clear rules is, if you’re going to be on our team, whether on the paid staff or a volunteer, what I always say is you need to respect the voters,”

It says something about the run of campaign workers and consultants, that Walker felt it necessary to say this loudly and clearly within hearing of his own staff.

Which suggests he wasn't loud and clear the first time, about the primacy of the citizen voter.

Of course, we know what Obama and ACORN think.

OK, just for grins, let's say he comes out and says that today, what will be your reaction?

Also, just for grins, I will now type what I think your reaction would be, and after you post yours, I'll post mine.

No cheating!

Which is the main point every time he gives a speech and what he has put into action here in the State.

Why should they? Their voters let themselves be used by them like a drunken hussy time and time again.

The test of a really good boss is whether he makes the mistake of sticking with the turkey and getting into worse trouble or immediately pulls chain. Walker did the right thing by immediately pulling the chain. Yes, agreed. This person is good at what they do. They also had worked with Walker before. I think they added her to the team quickly without re-vetting her recent comments and activities. Not smart, but hopefully a learning experience. She is definitely a bit outspoken, and not the most conservative. Some of the criticism of the firing has a valid point...an operative does not have to be a perfect match in views or very right wing to be effective or even be the best pick. A political operative is good because they do exceptional work to help the campaign win, and that's not always based on ideology. In this case, because she's said flippant things about Iowa and on some issues, it was a poor choice. They should have vetting more closely and either have been prepared to defend..or not hired at all. In the end, this is a blip on the radar. The average voter doesn't give a flip about these little tempests. They'll evaluate the candidate and vote based on that and the campaign's effectiveness.
