150 Years Later, Democrats Are Still Fighting Efforts to End Slavery
RedState ^ | 3/18/2015 | Erick Erickson

The Democratic Party is the Party of Slavery. They are the party that decided to secede from the Union. They are the party that started a Civil War over the right to treat people as property. They are the party that, once their side lost the war, set up structures to keep American citizens from exercising their civil rights.

And now, 150 years after the Civil War, the Democratic Party is at it again.

Republicans were leading a bipartisan effort to stop slavery around the world. Human trafficking is a terrible issue. It affects children in this country and women elsewhere. It destroys families and lives. And the Democrats are blocking strong, bipartisan legislation.

Why?

Because the Democrats still believe people can be property. They believe people can killed. And they want the government to do it.

Yes, the reality is that the same arguments used by Democrats 150 years ago to defend the institution of slavery are now used to defend the institution of abortion and, in the process, Democrats are willing to filibuster a bill to fight slavery around the world.

“As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.”

As much as I oppose abortion, I think it is wrong to add non-germane iitems/issues in to proposed specific legislation.

I think it is wrong when democrats do it; and it is wrong when republicans do it.

Your text above:

“And the Democrats are blocking strong, bipartisan legislation.”

Eric’s text at the link:

“And the Democrats are BACKING strong, bipartisan legislation.”

I know you posted what he meant to say, or maybe did say in an earlier draft before auto-correct kicked in. Odd that the one word totally changes the meaning of the sentence.

You can’t be a liberal without being a pro-slavery fanatic. Human trafficking, in the end, is telling other people how to live. For a liberal, telling other people how to live is more natural than breathing.

The most obvious efforts by Dems to keep Confederate traditions alive are in the fight against meaningful education reform; apparently it is still illegal to teach blacks how to read and write. Because the Dems are simply the political arm of the teachers’ unions, they will never let that go. Until blacks wake up (it is happening much too slowly), they will always be urban livestock led around by white liberals lining their pockets providing “services” to them.

The issue of whether abortions should be performed on victims of human trafficking is germane to the specific legislation.

Human trafficking is fed through the same networks that feed illegal “immigration.” In fact, illegal immigration and human trafficking are indistinguishable.

When Democrats oppose enforcement of immigration laws and refuse to secure our borders, they are enabling human trafficking to occur. And they know it.

BLACK REPULICAN QUOTES

Quotes from Frederick Douglas

Brainy Quotes ^ | Various, 19th Century | Frederick Douglas

I am a Republican, a black, dyed in the wool Republican, and I never intend to belong to any other party than the party of freedom and progress.

It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.

I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.

Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress.

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them.

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.

The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppose.

One and God make a majority.

I didn’t know I was a slave until I found out I couldn’t do the things I wanted.

I recognize the Republican party as the sheet anchor of the colored man’s political hopes and the ark of his safety.
No man can put a chain about the ankle of his fellow man without at last finding the other end fastened about his own neck.

To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker.
The soul that is within me no man can degrade.

Man’s greatness consists in his ability to do and the proper application of his powers to things needed to be done.

Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground.

A little learning, indeed, may be a dangerous thing, but the want of learning is a calamity to any people.

A battle lost or won is easily described, understood, and appreciated, but the moral growth of a great nation requires reflection, as well as observation, to appreciate it.

The thing worse than rebellion is the thing that causes rebellion.

When men sow the wind it is rational to expect that they will reap the whirlwind.

The white man’s happiness cannot be purchased by the black man’s misery.

...apparently it is still illegal to teach blacks how to read and write.

That is a profoundly important insight. It amazes me that the "good master/bad master" idiom still works today in the black community.

The democrat slave master says, "I give you food, a warm house, clothing and money for drugs. That slave master over there in the Republican plantation will not give you anything. He will make you work and be responsible for feeding yourself." And it works.

The reality is we may as well pay reparations. The black ghetto citizen is still living in squalor on the plantation, same as their slave ancestors. Give them each a million dollars and watch the carpetbaggers swarm. The price of magic beans will go through the roof.

Thanks.

The reality is that we HAVE BEEN paying reparations for fifty years; whole generations at this point have never worked a day in their lives (yet still end up with obesity issues not normally associated with poverty). Blacks were more integrated when just like everybody else they had to earn a living; maybe not ideal situations, but situations nonetheless that kept families together. White America had more in common with the working blacks who had to use separate bathrooms than they do with many of today’s blacks who share the restrooms with us (and that situation is changing for the worse: Many more whites are facing the same broken families and substance abuse as urban blacks today).

Many years ago I was having a discussion with a friend’s father who grew up in Italy; the older man described how the Italian government had no interest in dealing with an educated, informed electorate, and simply wanted illiterate manual laborers. Our overlords obviously have the same goal in mind; the overreaction of the voting public to fabricated and exaggerated “news stories” is a pathetic testament to that.

In the book “The Godfather”, Don Corleone uses an expression (very peasant) to describe Italians who have assimilated into American life: He says they allowed powerful people to put rings through their noses to lead them around. What the movies fail to stress enough was that he was determined to keep his family away from the fate determined by those powerful people (whatever it may have been); hence his disappointment when Michael joins the Marines during WWII.
