Child sex abuse is 'woven, covertly, into the fabric' of British society, Home Secretary Theresa May has warned.
The Conservative politician announced this week that a new judge-led inquiry into historic child abuse will investigate allegations from before the 1970s.
But she said the public are yet to grasp the full scale of the scandal, with the allegations so far amounting to the 'tip of the iceberg'.
Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Mrs May said: 'We already know the trail will lead into our schools and hospitals, our churches, our youth clubs and many other institutions that should have been places of safety but instead became the setting for the most appalling abuse.
'However, what the country doesn't yet appreciate is the true scale of that abuse.

No it is not woven into the fabric of society. It is often a result of a person allowed to be spoiled (so no one can say no to me and what I want) neglect, (I’ve known one too many kids with a really vulgar view of the opposite gender who have drunk or stoner parents), and then there’s the kids who were taught sexual abuse by a pedophile. This is a problem that can be recognized. However, denying reality by political correctness makes it all worse, and let’s it fester.

Whilst UK Islam clearly has a massive problem with sexual abuse of children and female teens, I am sorry to disappoint you a bit.
The vast majority of UK sexual abusers/paedophiles, past and present, are white. As most of the UK is still white (92%). Some are Muslim, some are black (afro-caribbean) British.
Contrary to myth, the majority of UK crime is committed by white British (as common sense would suggest), with black British the next offenders.
The strange thing is that Islam in the UK, which first emigrated to the UK in the 50’s and 60’s, didn’t have a problem until fairly recently (ie the last 15-20 yrs). The same extremism that was allowed to fester and has caused terrorism has also allowed a culture in some UK Islam communities (not all, but some) where British/Western culture is treated with contempt, ergo so are its people, and esp the most vulnerable: women, girls and children.

Not it isn’t, and this statement is frankly a disgrace by May. The Govt should be keeping the public sensible about the OTT hysteria in the UK about sexual abuse and paedophiles, NOT fanning the flames. Not only that, it simply isn’t the case.
Britain is still one of the very safest countries for a child to grow up in.
We have a low murder rate (700-800 people in a pop of 62m), a very low child murder rate (about 120 a year out of nearly 13 million children), and less than TEN children in the UK get snatched and murdered a year. Babies and toddlers are in fact by far the most at risk, as NINETY SEVEN percent of all murdered UK kids are the victims of their own families.
As to abuse, its estimated that perhaps 500000 current children in the UK are the victims of past or present physical abuse, sexual abuse, paedophilia. Terrible, but again as there are almost 13 MILLION UK children/teens, that makes up around one-twentysixth or just over 3% of all children. Which means at least 97% ARE NOT the victims of abuse.
A recent study found that since 1970, around 1m British were the victims of sexual abuse. Again, disgusting and appalling, but given that around 50m children have been born in the same timeframe, again that means 98% at least were not and never have been the victims of sexual abuse.
We need to stop the hysteria before we can tackle the problem.

The majority of British paedophiles and child killers are white, some black, some Muslim. Even now, and historically of course, almost all Limey paedos were white.
The obvious problem with UK Islam and sexual abuse, which needs to be dealt with, dosent change this. No offence, but you clearly don’t have a clue about the UK.
I just don’t like doom and gloom talk. It’s rediculously exaggerated, and it’s not at all helpful, somebody needs to seriously keep rational, and actually think about making a difference. Even in the United States, I would be disgusted at people saying the defeatist line of “it’s embedded in our culture” or there’s nothing we can do about it. Aside from sensationalism, most murders in the U.S. are actually gang activity, take care of the gangs, you take care of a strong majority of the murders committed.

Since the death of Jimmy Savile, there has been a monumental explosion of hysteria about child abuse and paedophilia in the UK. One we saw in the late 90’s, and hoped we wouldn’t see again. The UK frankly at the moment is a hysterical, paranoid place and the country is suffering. The paedo panic is crippling the country imo and its not healthy. And we sure as hell don’t need Govt to make it worse.
The idea that its ‘endemic’ in the UK culture is complete and utter nonsense. Firstly, if it were, we’d a society where most children WERE victims!. Instead of one where a tiny minority (sadly) are.
Secondly, paedophiles and sexual child abusers are, like in any country, utterly despised in the UK. They are considered the lowest of the low.
Many Brits would bring back the death penalty for child killers, child rapists and paedophiles. Most Brits would want true life sentences for similar crimes against children. The British hate anyone who abuses children and animals. As in the US, even in prison, child-killers and paedophiles are hated.
