Scott Walker scales up likely presidential operation in New Hampshire

Concord, NH — In his first swing through New Hampshire since 2012, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker took a tough line Saturday against Islamic terrorism, laying out the possibility of deploying troops to the Middle East to stop the Islamic State or other militant groups.

"I don't know about you, but I'd rather take the fight to them than wait for it to come to us on American soil," Walker told a group of GOP activists at Concord High School.

In the latest sign Walker plans to officially get in the race for president, he said his sons Matt and Alex would take a semester off from college this fall to talk to voters around the country — a move that would give Walker two additional campaign surrogates. Meanwhile, the chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party said Walker would return to the state for a primary summit on April 17 and 18.

New Hampshire holds the second presidential nominating contest in the country, after Iowa's caucus. Like Iowa, it is getting barraged with likely presidential candidates. Walker arrived in New Hampshire on Thursday night and he was there while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry were also in the state. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is visiting on Sunday.

Iowa is mandatory but I really wish we could change NH. Back in the day I guess they were a purple but lately they have changed to blue. I would think Arkansas or North Carolina would be better if they want a “purplish” state to go second. I don’t know the rules but it seems like we have Iowa as law so has to be first, then a purple state and then deep red South Carolina. Not sure what laws govern that but at least the second state needs to change some.

The corrupted 'open primary' in Red Hampshire actively encourages cross-over votes from Democrats whose goal is to elect the worst possible GOP candidate. Who do the dems want to run against? Just watch Red Hampshire.

Oh no! This may lead to 2 more college drop outs! (Just kidding. These young men are super and will do a great job. 've met them at numerous campaign events over the years starting when they were about 6 and 8.)

Has anyone (either D or R) actually formally announced their candidacy?
Or are we all just speculating at this point?
I’m having trouble keeping up.

We could change open primaries....but for some reason we don’t or haven’t. That is a question that needs to be asked. In fact, why not ask the candidates? The answers could be telling.

The Red Hampshire style primary is the kind favored by the Bushes and all the “GOP” elites.

GWB got blasted in NH in 2000 by McCain & lost to Kerry in 2004. I doubt Jeb will do well there.

Just finished watching his speech... the guy’s an absolute natural — he speaks directly to his audience from the middle-America worldview. And there wasn’t a teleprompter anywhere. Compare that to Her Pantsuited Woodenness, who has no communicative abilities beyond reading a carefully focus-grouped manuscript.

A one-on-one debate between the two would be quite the sight to see. Walker would stomp her to dust.
