Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism will reduce its class size and cut about six positions from its staff as the news industry retrenches. The school will gradually reduce enrollment over several years and has already stopped filling some vacant faculty positions, Steve Coll, dean of the school since 2013, said in an e-mail to students, faculty and staff today.

A side effect of commitment to affirmative action and social activism instead of excellence; anybody can do the same thing and get the same result, so there’s no prestige left.
Just listen to the questions asked at any White House press conference or worse any interview of any liberal poll. Journalists are for the most part bootlicking toadies of the Democratic party, it’s no wonder no one reads newspapers or watches newscasts anymore. Who wants to lied to constantly?
So which is it? Is Columbia's product not up to snuff and they don't have enough students applying to School of Journalism? Or is Columbia just ignorant about who their customers are?

BINGO! We have a winner.
There are high-school graduates with blogs and Twitter accounts out there doing a better job.
It’s not only politics. Journolisters are ignorant about most basics of history and science, not to mention grammar and usage.
We had a job fair for some entry level jobs. One of the applicants had a college degree so I was worried the person was over qualified. It turned out that the degree was in Journalism so I hire the person.
Did the person have a degree from the school of Journalism at the University of Missouri at Columbia?
Is the person still there? If not how long did he or she stay? Was the person trainable?
Thousands of college students take out millions in student loans to graduate with worthless journalism and communication degrees. At most there are 400 jobs available in television every year, and the newspapers are laying off people, not hiring. Universities ought to be sued for taking money under false pretenses, because there is little chance for employment in these fields.
Good. Hopefully it will shrink down to the size of a phone booth.
Was not a grad from Mizzou, that would have been a DQ :)
