Barrons Educational Series, the maker of popular Advanced Placement study guides, has apologized for linking Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to fascism and comparing him to the KKK.
The Daily Caller reported Monday about the extreme comparison, found on page 168 of the 7th edition of Barrons AP European History study guide.
It has been brought to our attention that Barrons AP European History, 7th Edition by Seth Roberts and James Eder contains erroneous information that casts aspersions on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, reads a statement released by the company on Tuesday.
In an attempt to draw a comparison between current-day politics in the U.S. and the French National Assembly during the French Revolution, the diagram on page 168 equates Clarence Thomas with the KKK, while labeling him as a reactionary and/or fascist.
Specifically, the study guide linked Thomas, who is black, to the racist KKK, stating that both want things like they used to be.
In its statement, the company apologized and called the comparison an unintentional error.

“unintentional error” my furry fanny...
Hillary Clinton is to honesty as ....
:) Yes !
Somebody needs to be fired.
All the names of people associated with the publication of this book should be named.
Not nearly good enough—Stop all federal funding to colleges that utilize College Board data in any way, shape, or form.
So liking the good old days makes you racist now even if you are black, wow.
Mr. Justice needs to sue them into oblivion.
I think the College Board and Barron's, the offending entity in this story, are two different companies.
John Jay?
No, it is not an answer key but it does teach to the test. If this was not a valid answer on the test it would not be included.
They are in business to make money and giving students examples that would be marked incorrect on the test would hurt their sales.
True, but there is absolutely no question that BOTH the AP American History AND AP European History syllabus and frameworks have been turned into anti-American, anti-White, anti-Liberty propaganda courses BY the College Board, and I'm sure that in following their lead, Barron's was just trying to do right by the students who will be taking the exams.
Maybe Seth Roberts and James Eder need to be interviewed and asked why they did this?
Sue them on the basis that he isn’t a democrat, so he can’t be associated with the KKK.
Since we live in a racial justice world now, shouldn’t this company be SHUT DOWN and RAN OUT OF TOWN??
Link to the actual image.
I have no particular problem with what they say, if taken literally. I, and I assume Justice Thomas, do think we’ve gone too far down the wrong path, in certain ways. So does the KKK.
But I suspect Clarence and I would disagree vehemently with the KKK as to the specific parts of the past we want to bring back.
The big problem with the image is that it’s wildly over-simplified and therefore misleading.
If somebody can post the image, that would be cool.
saying sorry when they have been exposed seems to be the norm today.
