The sign on a Main Street deli that celebrates “White History Month” is creating a stir in Flemington, New Jersey.
Jim Boggess, who owns Jimbo's Deli at 22 Main St., keeps a copy of the Bill of Rights at the ready and says he’s a champion of free speech. A sign at the front of his establishment reads, “Celebrate your white heritage in March, White History Month,” the Hunterdon County Democrat reported.
“No matter what you are — Muslim, Jewish, black, white, gay, straight — you should be proud of what you are,” Mr. Boggess told the paper. “I shouldn’t have to feel bad about being white.”
But a neighbor and former customer, Bhakti Curtis, who is biracial, said the sign is “mocking Black History Month, ” The Democrat reported.
“A business can’t go putting racist signs in the window because everybody has a right to go in that store — everybody,” Mr. Curtis said, “and have a right to buy something from that man and not feel demoralized or degraded.”

the customer has a right to FEEL that so called black history month is being mocked if he so desires.
He has the right to ignore the clear implication that to define a peoples history by COLOR..is rather inane.
I hereby do declare that April shall henceforth be CELEBRATED as Tan Peoples History Month..followed by.....etc..etc..
How about ALBINO History Month...that should be delightful!

Welcome to the party pal. Your a little late.
Someone should inform Mr. Curtis that he has the right NOT to enter that store, and he has the right to take his business elsewhere.
And someone should also inform Mr. Curtis that the right that allows him to complain about this sign is the same right that allows the owner of the deli to put the sign there.
If you take that right away from one party, the other party loses it too.
(At least that’s the way it USED to work.)

If every other sub-culture wants to define themselves as African American, Mexican American instead of simply American, then so be it.

I live in western N.J. (Warren County). Flemington is only 25 or so miles S.E. of us. Our area is just about the only sane area left in N.J. Scott Garrett is our congressman and
he is one of the only people there that votes 100% conservative. We actually do not have to be PC out here. We proudly wear our conservatism. Good for this guy I hope his business thrives.
But unfortunately too many from east & south of us are moving in and bringing their politics with them.

Biracial folks almost always have identity and self esteem issues. Consider our white hut occupant.
The entire failed enterprise of Black History Month hasn’t done much to pump up self-esteem in that demographic. After decades of trotting out the same Black heroes in our schools every February, Blacks are still killing each other, engaging in the most destructive behaviors, and complaining that they haven’t been given enough of Other People’s Money, though various welfare programs have consumed trillions of taxpayer dollars since the ‘60s.
LBJ and the Democrat plantation owners have destroyed the Black culture in America.

By its very choosing, February as a Black History month is a racist ploy by whitey. They done picked the shortest month - racist m’effers!
you've got that right. I'm old enough to remember what the Black community had become under Eisenhower. They had a vibrant business network with grocery store, gas stations, drugstores, clinics and everything else. All people shopped there and it was safe to walk through there to get to and from school, I did so every time I missed the bus. All the black kids I knew were in strong families with two parents who worked just like my parents.
But it fell apart so quickly that it's hard to believe. Do to gentrification there is just a pale shadow of that community left. Most of the buildings have been replaced and only a few of the black families remain.
What I find so offensive is that he thought the police should do something about a sign posted in a private business. I think we’ve gone way too far with this issue. A few racist jerks is far worth tolerating than to have the continued erosion of personal liberty and the abridgement of ability to exercise conscience in relation to private business and personal choices and associations.
The primary tool of the left in forcing their social views on everyone else though bullying while they see no limit to their own hypocrisy. The whole idea that we have anything labeled or assessed or legislated by race is a testament that it has been the left that has produced a level of institutional racism and bias that is beginning to rival that of the civil rights era. The only thing missing is burning crosses in the yards of conservative Christians. We already have whole professions that are being walled off to exclude any self professing traditional Christians. We have black students being given as much as 200 SAT points head start against other races on college admissions. The left at heart loves racism and discrimination and they do it with brutal efficiency as they continue to take over the culture and silence their opponents and now shut down the businesses and charities of Christians that disagree with them on LGBT issues.
