DES MOINES, Iowa — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is telling Iowa Republicans and agribusiness leaders that he opposes the federal standard for renewable production, including ethanol.

At a forum focused on agricultural issues on Saturday, Cruz likened the federal renewable fuel standard to "corporate welfare."

Cruz tells the audience of roughly 1,000 that he has "every bit of faith that businesses can continue to compete, continue to do well without going on bended knee to the government."

Added to the suck of government subsidies (our tax dollars) and the cost of production, ethanol also gives reduced mileage, aggressively attracts water, which leads to poor driveability and other issues. Ethanol is also corrosive to some metals and rubber. All add to costs which come right out of our pocketbooks. The farmers are growing a menace.

The corn farmers are loving all the ethanol crap. It is bad stuff for engines and the industry knows it, and every knowledgable engine owner knows it. It is a sham and more liberal deceit. Raising feed crop costs and the cost and taxation of fuel.

Price an ear of corn at the store lately???

Separating himself from Scott Walker who came out in favor of mandated ethanol.

Cruz wins whether it makes sense to grow corn for fuel or not. What he opposes is paying farmers to do it and/or mandating that farmers do it. Either one is a violation of both freedom and a free market.

The real story on corn based ethanol isn’t complete until one factors in that the mash remaining after the sugar is used in producing alcohol is still a perfectly good cattle feed. The value in the feed is generally not factored into the cost of corn versus the price received for gasohol.

He stated this to a gathering in IOWA!

THAT is how you show people that you stand by your convictions!

Cruz/West - 2016!

My top three? As of today.
Walker
Cruz
Jindal

Paul was number two until he finagled his way around the Kentucky law against appearing on two ballots. To me, that is the irreversible error.
If Palin enters the fray, she throws my list into a cocked hat.

Thanks. My list only flips your top two.

If Palin enters the fray, she throws my list into a cocked hat.

Not mine. Hopefully Sarah has found her calling. The vile MSM have amassed a tome of things to attack her on. That would be all we would hear about and would be more than I could bear. God has placed her into a position to be a clarion caller for the Truth that is heard by millions of people on a regular basis. She needs to continue with that good and important work.
