The Department of Justice is preparing to charge New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez with corruption. Menendez, a Democrat, may not leave office quietly his term isnt up until 2018 but if he does resign, it could present Republican Gov. Chris Christie with an opportunity to get back in the good graces of conservatives statewide and around the country. Thats because Christie would get to choose both the temporary replacement for Menendez and the date of a special election to fill the seat.
Christie could choose a moderate Republican such as state Sen. Tom Kean Jr. or former Rep. Jon Runyan. The former might be especially appealing because Christie has had his run-ins with both Kean Jr. and Tom Kean Sr., who is the godfather of the Republican party in New Jersey.

I’m confused. How would Christie get back in the good graces with
conservatives by appointing another RINO moderate senator from NJ?
Appointing another moderate would help other moderates, but do
nothing for conservatives.
The writer of this article should grow a brain.
Christie is a wussy semi-Progressive. He would name a Democrat to the vacancy so as not to offend the mob. In fact, how did Corey Bugger get into office ... seems like the fat boy gave him a hand up.
God forbid!!!! Pro-illegal alien, pro-Muslim, anti-Second Amendment ( I think) and an economic catastrophe with all the charm of a Port Elizabeth dockworker.
Writers on drugs
There is no reasonable scenario in which Christie will be the nominee.
“There is no reasonable scenario in which Christie will be the nominee.”
I don’t see where any of the posters or the article says anything about Christy being The Nominee.
The nominee for the Senate seat (if there is a vacancy)?
The nominee for the Presidency? (I doubt he would get it under any circumstances).

The thread was about Christie being able to 1) Appoint Menendez’ replacement and 2) being able to select the date of an election to vote for a permanent replacement.
I saw nothing relating to Christie taking the seat for himself or anything relating to his presidential aspirations.
Last time a governor appointed himself to a senate seat was Wendell Anderson of Minnesota. A young, wildly popular, successful governor. Ended his political career. Nobody’s ever been really successful after appointing themselves to the Senate.
If Menendez leaves office and Christie appoints a replacement, the appointment will likely only be a temporary one because the replacement only serves until the next general election in 2016. Being a U.S. Senator from New Jersey is a dead-end job for losers under the best of circumstances, so nobody with political aspirations is really going to want the job.
The entire premise if the article is Christie’s standing Being benefited.
