The solution is to treat all people equally. It is shocking how foreign this concept is for people today. Creating disincentives for people to be successful is the height of stupidity.

the idea behind a fine on a ticket is to get the person that is breaking the law to stop. I have no problem with a sliding scale on tickets and punishments with in policing of society. if you are making a million a year a 250 dollar ticket is mot enough to get you to keep with in the speed limit. if you up it to 5,000 dollars and you are going to think twice before you ignore the speed limit. I have never gotten a speeding ticket in my life because 250 dollar ticket is devastating to me financially because I don’t have that type of money to spare. I also have only gotten one or two parking enforcement tickets for that reason. I live in California and in this state the wealthy Hollywood crowd is notorious for ignoring a law and just paying the fine figuring that it is the cost of doing business

What’s the point of a fine if it doesn’t hurt?

Well, let’s see.

The man’s income is $7.2 Million and the fine is based on this. So $60,000 is about .83% of his income.

If a man makes $100,000 a year, based on the above formula, he would be fined $833 for speeding.

If a man makes $50,000, he would be fined $416 for speeding.

That’s gotta hurt.

Try applying that in the USA and see how soon you get voted out out of office.

Now here’s a question, what if you don’t have any income at all and are on the dole? How are they going to fine you?

Are they going to take a huge portion of the dole out?

So, I assume you have no problems with local traffic police and highway patrol poking into your tax documents ( including knowing how much money you made and knowing what your net worth is ).

I don’t know how a system would be done so the info would not be made available on the local level to police departments but I am sure it could be done. If you think your financial worth is a secret you are wrong. unless you go through a lot of effort the info is available to who ever wants it.
