TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Kansas State University is renaming its computer network system to avoid associating with a terrorist group.
Chief Information Officer Ken Stafford said in a news release Thursday that the university will no longer use the abbreviation iSIS for its network handling enrollment, registration and financial aid. Stafford says many people have expressed concern over the networks name because the acronym is also used by the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. The network will now be called KSIS.

There used to be a middle-eastern restaurant near me called the ISIS Café.
Had they stayed in business I’m sure the name would have been changed by now.
They killed off the dog “Isis” on Downton Abbey, too. That name is poison now.
You said that sarcastically, but it there is some truth in the statement.
The Kansas University Jayhawks are about as liberal as a liberal arts / fine arts / law school can come. From the 1960's on, the school has been referred to by some as Berkeley on the Kaw. For verification, check out the Douglas County voting record.
By contrast, the Kansas State University Wildcats are about as conservative as a land grant (engineering, agriculture and military science) school can be. They proudly train their athletes with the military at nearby Fort Riley, sport military emblems on their jerseys, and seek careers that produce things rather than leech off of the government.
Sometimes, words come to have unfortunate meanings. I remember in the 1970s watching TV ads for a candy sold as an appetite suppressant. You would eat a couple with a hot drink 20 minutes before a meal. In the early 1980s the makers of Ayds had to rethink the brand.
OK - So I'm dyslexic.
Verizon: Isis mobile wallet is now Softcard.
Umm... The Jayhawks are K.U.
The Wildcats are K-State
I should know, I am K-State Alumni.

Thank You for your Kind Words Zakeet .
We ain't no Blue Dot out in the Middle of Kansas
I was unaware of this.
No kidding. Every University of Idaho athletic coach has had to explain to the press the historical meaning of Vandal. When the name was adopted, it did not refer to people who destroy property.

SNL Vandals skit with Steve Martin as Roman general:

Though I do in nearby in Johnson County, KS, having spent many years in KS politics, we refer to Douglas County but especially, Lawrence, KS, we elevated their status from Berkley West to Beijing and even "Pyongyang of the Prairie!"
I had forgotten about that skit. It was a good one. However, they were far too lenient with the young vandal. Given that it was Al Franken - he should have been executed on the spot. It have saved Minnesota and the nation a lot of pain.
Depends on what the meaning of the word isis
Did you hear about the Dyslectic Satanist's that sold their souls to Santa?
lol!
Bill Clinton warned people of this situation “That depends on the meaning of ISIS.”
