The IAF has the ability to generate a strike force and get it into Iran without U.S. detection. And, if the Israelis utilize some of the basing options available to them, Obama would face the challenge of “attacking” other U.S. allies to interdict the IAF operation.
More importantly, the Israelis—and everyone else in the region—know that Obama is making a meaningless threat.

In April and May of 2012 There was a lot of news about F-22’s deploying to the United Arab Emirates. I said then, and still say that they were there to threaten Israeli military aircraft, not Iranian aircraft. I remembered that the Obama admin had outed an Israeli plan to attack Iranian nuclear sites from the north using an ally in that direction. The F-22’s were there to close off any Israeli attack on Iran.
F-22’s based in the UAE could shoot down anything they wanted to, anywhere they wanted to without so much as a peep from anyone, and the Israelis knew it.
Thus, it was either an empty threat, or the intent to conduct a special intercept mission.

In my 26 year military career I have always said that I would never go to war with Israel. The only possible way I would have fought the Israeli’s is if they invaded the US.
