I’ll bet you anything some of these awful husbands are holding out for money. That if the wife’s family can pay him off to the tune of $100,000 or more then he will give the get to release the wife he mistreated.
I will bet that many wives have gotten these marraige releases after more modest payoffs. IOW it will cost her (and her father and extended family) money to get rid of the no good louse. But maybe these are bargain prices when you see how much a lawyer can earn from a divorce in the USA beyond the Hassidic communities.. ....
EITHER way you gotta pay to get out!

Ill bet you anything some of these awful husbands are holding out for money. That if the wifes family can pay him off to the tune of $100,000 or more then he will give the get to release the wife he mistreated. Simpler solution: get a regular civil divorce, and after the US family court system rapes the husband, inform him that she will agree to a reduced judgement if he gives her a religious divorce too.

Defence lawyer Robert Stahl argued that his client was acting as an advocate for women and had a reputation for "convincing these husbands to go give their wives a get". Mr Stahl did not dispute that "some laws may have been broken along the way", but said kidnapping was not one of them. Nobody pays $50K and up for a simple "talking to" (except at the highest corporate levels).
The rabbi and his crew are thugs, and I would have been happy if their victim was carrying and blew the whole crew away.
