First hand knowledge fact: The lower socioeconomic (lower income) folks are coming into the banks now with $6-8k refund checks the amount and volume of which are unprecedented. Some don't even have children. Don't know quite how this is happening, but it IS happening. Many are spending all of the money within a month. I am sorry, can not give specifics as peoples' jobs would be jeopardized.

The amount on the refund checks and the number of people with them is unprecedented. Not quite sure about the big picture, but know that bankruptcy of this country is imminent with this type of fiscal irresponsibility going on. The government is buying the loyalty of the lower classes and will force everyone working to pay for it while government workers enjoy wonderful health benefits, retirement and living conditions. We have become slaves.

Well, they can’t force people to work. Without workers, the sugar tit goes away.

Once the amount “refunded” exceeds the amount withheld it is no longer a refund. It is a welfare check.

Some don't even have children. Don't know quite how this is happening, I've done some tax work. It happens because folks simply supply fraudulent information and the IRS does little or nothing to verify the tax returns claiming all the EITC and child credits.
If someone has a legitimate W-2 for several thousand in earnings, they just add the phony dependents and claim the credits.

“Refunds” to the poor (who never paid taxes to begin with) ... is the covert euphemism for “redistribution of wealth”. Verbal engineering precedes social engineering.

Correct.
Maybe, we all ought to go to our bank and ask for our money.

They kept my 500.00 refund. I got a letter form the Treasury stating it was used to pay a VA bill that I didn’t even know about, no details given. Just who it was sent to and the amount paid. I am only a white female vet who is without a job. Not a minority, it really makes me angry!

they just add the phony dependents and claim the credits. Aren't SSN's required for all dependents? Aren't those numbers verified and checked to ensure that they're not used more than once? Surely, the IRS has computers sophisticated enough to do this?

I’ve seen it in my business. The amount of money low-income people toss around the first three months of the year is simply staggering.
To: MeneMeneTekelUpharsin
Oh and are you all aware the lower class sells the dependent deductions to each other?

Ummm...”refund” implies that a party is receiving money that it had provided in the first place.
These are probably not “refunds”.

Is this from an email, or do you have more direct knowledge of this? I don’t distrust you, just wonder about the info
