There’s an old political saying that if your opponent is committing suicide, get out of the way. Yet professor Sean Elias requires a response, so hateful was his odious retort in The Aspen Times to my column, “Why coexist with a mortal Iranian threat?”
Evidence that society’s oldest prejudice endures after a post-Nazi dormancy, Elias’ letter to the editor reflects the bigotry that’s inciting lethal anti-Jewishness in Europe and existential threats to Israel, the only nation-state of the Jewish people and the sole democracy in the Middle East’s radicalized swamp.
No other nation is surrounded by as much hostility or targeted as much for destruction by governmental and terrorist groups. Yet Vermont-sized Israel, 9 miles wide at its narrowest point, suffers unreasonable scrutiny, despite comprising only 0.3 percent of the region’s territory and 1.6 percent of its population.
Peddling prejudices as obvious truths, Elias employs familiar stereotypes to convince you to Think Again about Jews, Israel and its leaders, seemingly to incite hatred of a people who’ve suffered 2,500 years of unrelenting oppression while inspiring more free and decent societies.
Before the Jews, the pagan world resembled today’s Islamic State, devoid of freedom and dignity. It was “the Jews,” American founder John Adams noted, who “contributed more to civilized man than any other nation. They have given religion to three-quarters of the globe and have influenced the affairs of mankind more than any other nation, ancient or modern.”

If it weren’t for the Jews who brazenly occupy almost a percent of the Middle East, including countries those Christ-Killers once had the audacity to settle, inhabit, and develop, the peace-loving democratic followers of Mohammed could do away with their existential fight for survival under the crushing regimes of vicious lands like Dearborn, tel Aviv, and London, and could return to their unceasing focus on social justice, love of children (strictly platonic,) strife for invention and development in the fields of medicine, science, technology and art, and of course womyn’s reproductive rights. Judeocentrism reigns at the The Aspen Times. From the column space granted to the handicapped rabbi who is only equipped to discuss Jewish oppression, the anti-Muslim rhetoric of Melanie Sturm’s columns and the ravings of Jewish fanatics who venomously address any criticism of the misguided Israeli state and Jewish misbehavior. The Feb. 12 edition manages to include both another ignorant, caustic attack on Sue Gray’s perceptive critique of Jewish jingoism and Israel’s oppression of Palestinians as well as another distorted, disingenuous narrative in a series of anti-Muslim opinion pieces by Sturm. This ubiquitous Judeocentric hegemony of misinformation is both destructive and getting old.
Predictably, Sturm has cluttered column space with yet another uncritical anti-Muslim, fanatical Zionist propagandist piece that vilifies Iran in a naked attempt to prime the public into an unwarranted sympathy with the terrorist state of Israel and gain public approval for another Middle East war with Iran. As anyone familiar with Iranian politics knows, Iran’s primary discontent with the U.S. stems from our support of the terrorist actions of Israel, a fact that Sturm conveniently omits. It would appear Sturm is rolling out the welcome mate for Benjamin Netanyahu, who will soon slither into the halls of Congress to promote U.S support for military action against Iran — an underhanded, conniving, potentially lethal act that many U.S. and Israeli citizens oppose. Only the lowest-denominator U.S. politicians such as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, brainwashed fundamentalist Christians such as Mike Huckabee and extremist Jews like Sturm will welcome the blood-tainted, saber-rattling opportunitistic prime minister of Israel.
One senses the American public is waking up to Israel’s antics, Jewish race cards that always retreat to Jewish victimization and manipulation and troublemaking of radicalized Jews who would have the U.S. sacrifice its
citizens to defend an Israeli state that has made its own bed and is conspicuously absent as a coalition partner willing to sacrifice its own citizens.
So, “Think Again,” Sturm, and this time, do some actual thinking.

Wow! That’s pretty good! It nearly made me think Julius Streicher had written it.
Actually the statement that Israel is the only democracy in the middle east is simply untrue.
Gaza is a democracy, so is the west bank, so was Egypt until we helped install a new military dictatorship that went on to murder the previous Democratic leadership which ironically tried to work with the military.
Umm what else. Well Iraq is a democracy. Pakistan is a democracy lebanon is a democracy, turkey is a democracy.
It’s simply not true. Gah the lies of the Israeli controlled press!
