When a guy jumps bail, then there is someone in law enforcement that continues to seek justice against him.
That is a good thing thing to maintain, and to not abandon.

Poland has absolute 30 year statute of limitations for ALL crimes. I don’t think they will extradite him.
Polanski is a child rapist. That is a gross injury to all of society, not just the victim. And society is entitled to justice, just as a victim is.
Of course the victim may not want it brought up again after all these years. Trying a rapist is painful for the victim. But the victim’s pain can’t be the sole determinant of how the law is applied, or no rapist would ever be prosecuted.
And to suggest she may not want “having some information come out about her own actions in the matter” is to imply that a 13 YEAR OLD CHILD could somehow be complicit in and responsible for her own rape. And that’s simply outrageous.
This isn’t a “dead horse” — this is a field that has lain fallow for too long. Let’s have some sunlight, and let justice bloom for this woman, and all of society, and child rapist Polanski, finally.
He drugged a 13 year old girl, forcibly raped and sodomized her. That's not conjecture. He was convicted of it, then fled the country.
To suggest a 13 year old girl was "trying to get away with things", is beyond the pale.
You did see where she took those drugs herself ... before this ...
She was obviously a young drug addict herself!
I’ve followed this from the beginning. Please don’t even suggest that a 13 year old child is somehow even remotely responsible for her own rape. That is reprehensible.

A 13 year old is in no way responsible for her own rape.
I had forgotten that point. I don't like wasting money on prisons, but it's not a waste to (1) protect other innocent children from this predator, and (2) deter other predators with the money to run away.

Well, actually in the Bible, we see that those of that age were responsible for their actions. We’ve just made it a cultural thing that they are not responsible for their actions until 18. I say make it over 12 years old.
As far as “spiritually ill” I guess that makes all those people back in that day, spiritually ill ... :-) ...
These days, kids are running around doing drugs and having sex with all sorts of people at 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 years old. Back 40 years ago, I was getting reports from a local GRADE SCHOOL of kids coming to class stoned! It’s much worse now.
