After feud, Log Cabin Republican head to speak at CPAC

The head of the Log Cabin Republicans has been invited to speak on a panel at this week’s Conservative Political Action Conference, the pro-gay rights group announced Monday.

Executive Director Gregory Angelo said he will be speaking on a panel called “Putin’s Russia: A New Cold War?” alongside Seth Cropsey, Cliff May, Amanda Brickell Bellows and potential 2016 candidate Carly Fiorina.

The announcement comes after days of back and forth between the Log Cabin Republicans and the American Conservative Union, which organizes CPAC.

“There has been a great deal of confusion over the last 48 hours regarding Log Cabin Republicans’ role in CPAC 2015,” Angelo wrote in a statement.

“[A]fter some fruitful conversations with the leadership of the American Conservative Union,” Angelo wrote, “we would like to express regret if anyone associated with the American Conservative Union felt unfairly maligned. That was never our intention.”

The Log Cabin Republicans claimed last week that the ACU had denied their request to sponsor this year’s event due to their stance on same-sex marriage. The ACU fired back, noting that the group had never formally applied.

I am so OVER establishment GOP. Give me A CONSERVATIVE if he’s got and “R” after his name I will vote for him...if not forgedda bout it. I voted Constitution Party in 2012. Wish we had a better choice.

I had a booth at a Texas Republican convention a number of years ago. Right across from me was the booth that was listed on the program as being the Log Cabin group who had been unceremoniously excised from being able to set up a booth. So, this guy selling T-shirts and posters got the spot instead. He got so many inquiries as to if he were the Log Cabin guys that he put up a sign that read: "I Really Like Women."

One of the Log Cabin guys came up to this guys booth and began to pick a fight with him that he was supposed to have that space. T-shirt guy finally told the Log guy to get the hell out or else he was going to punch his lights out.

It was sort of funny. The Log guy left and I went over and bought about $100 worth of posters and bumper stickers just because of his courage.

CPAC needs to be replaced with something that actually is conservative

By and large CPAC tries to be conservative. Its kinda hard when the Republican Party is fractured with opposing side groups like Log Cabin, libertarians, RINO’s and the like.
